Twelve years is the magic number for those engaging in political manipulation. If they say six years until doom it quickly becomes obvious that they are full of crap. If they say twenty-four years who cares? That’s a long time from now!

The 12 year time line to the end of the world is a moving timeline. The clock is reset every time someone warns the world will end in 12 years, they mean from the moment they said it.
So to be safe, once a year we only have to claim that the world will end in 12 years and we gained another year of safety.
