Just more evidence that Facebook is a publisher, not just a “platform.” If they want to exercise editorial control over the content on Facebook, then they need to be held to the same standard, and same liabilities, as any other publisher.

Congress accepts all that sweet ca$h from them, however. So, forget it.

But who is going to hold them to those standards? Congress sure isn’t. And after a few comments about “deplatforming” last fall, even the White House seems to have gone back to sleep on this particular issue. The tech corporations will do whatever they want, with the expectation that no one will make them stop. And this far, they have been absolutely correct.
