Your information is pretty dated. There are lots of new factories being built in Russia, and Russia is currently the world leader in wheat exports (the entire agro sector is extremely strong, technologically current and expanding rapidly).
Nah, the media made a pretty big deal of it (not Russian media) and dictators and others like them hate above all else to be ridiculed. He was being ridiculed.

I am pretty in touch with Russian media, it was definitely discussed, and he let it roll off like a man. No one cared, other than for a little chuckle. It’s pretty unfair to call Putin a dictator though. He is the President of the RF under a constitutional order. He does not act arbitrarily or outside the law. Most people I know who are RF citizens would (and have) vote for him.
