"...and the philandering Republican Donald Trump occupied the White House..."

Just shut the hell up you pathetic never-Trumper.
NR's subscriptions taking a nose-dive due to schleps like French, Goldberg and Kevin "I'm so damned smart" Williamson.

French is an anti-Trump moron. Basically he was using Graham just to bash the President.

This is the Never Trump pablum that got him in trouble....

I didn’t realize that the members of the Free Republic thought so highly of the personal conduct of the President. You know, you can support his policies while condemning his personal behavior.

“...your humble correspondent...”

Nothing humble about David French. He’s a flat out a-hole.

I just cancelled my National Review subscription that dated back to 1983. I cannot imagine that WFB would have let his creation go so far off the rails. WFB was famous for saying something to the effect that as a conservative, he would always support to the most right-ward electable candidate, even if he had policy disagreements with that candidate.

He didn’t make it as president and he’s bitter, lol.

Trump was never accused of rape while biting the lip of a prone woman. He was never accused of dropping his drawers in a hotel room and asking a young woman to kiss it. He never grabbed the breast of a woman in the Oval Office after she had lost her husband and he never was serviced by a young intern in the Oval Office. He has not been accused of lying about sexual matters while under oath.

All of Trump’s affairs were with grown women and we have no idea what his wives thought. French is another moron!

“You know, you can support his policies while condemning his personal behavior.”

Why would I? His personal behavior is not for me to judge. Neither is it for you. What makes you so high and mighty?

AFA is entitled to condemn the worst moral behavior without having to rank the behaviour of every politician, explaining in detail who is the best and the worst. I can discuss Buttigieg without bringing Trump into the discussion. Ask me about Trump, and I’ll discuss him without mentioning Buttigieg.

yep. David French hates Trump. Bigly.

I pretty much don’t care if he gets published again. He is not helping.

I don’t think that you really mean that. You don’t make judgments about the personal behavior of others?

"The proper Evangelical position toward any president is not hard to articulate, though it is exceedingly difficult to hold to, especially in polarized times when one party seems set on limiting religious liberty and zealously defending abortion: We should pray for presidents, critique them when they’re wrong, praise them when they’re right, and never, ever impose partisan double standards. We can’t ever forget the importance of character, the necessity of our own integrity, and the power of the prophetic witness."

I'm not seeing a problem here. OTOH, I wonder what the late Bill Buckley would think of the never-Trump faction in his magazine. That would be the Bill Buckley who said that he would vote for the most conservative candidate WHO COULD WIN.

” You don’t make judgments about the personal behavior of others?”

I do. But there are things among consenting adults that are none of my business. Things that good but imperfect people do. I believe I know when to say “that’s between them.” If I judged all people on their moral failings, none would pass the test.

I have no sympathy for French here, but I think his criticism of Franklin Graham is valid. Some of these prominent Christian leaders make fools of themselves when they hold double standards, and Graham comes across as a damn fool when he retroactively calls the Republican pursuit of Bill Clinton “a great mistake that never should have happened.”

These dopes have sold themselves out for political expediency. They’d be better off simply pointing out that they’re perfectly comfortable with a flawed man leading this country when that flawed man happens to be the strongest defender of their interests they’ve had in years.

Donald Trump does not leave a trail of dead bodies in his wake. That alone puts him in a moral class far above the Clintons.

There is no such thing as homophobia. It is an ersatz, and misleading, term: It means: irrational fear of same. Unless one actually insists that every critic of homoerotic persons is indeed a closeted self-hating one himself, it is nonsense. Further, it is used as a leftist political weapon to silence opposition, like the term, hate speech, also used by leftists to silence rightists.

Calling homoeroticism what it is, a perversion of the natural order, and calling for such persons to repent, a Christian duty (for the sake of the other), are not in themselves speaking slurs.

David French is a RINOpublican hypocrite accusing others of his own ethical crime of hypocrisy. He may as well be from France: He exists to self-righteously abandon the field of political battle to the enemy.

Bill and Hillary’s sins were paid for with public tax dollars. Trump’s weren’t.

Bill and Hillary’s sins were current and on-going. Trump’s weren’t.

Was Trump having affairs and claiming he was a born again Christian while Governor?
Was Trump even a Christian when he had affairs? Bubba was claiming that.
Was candidate Trump having affairs?
Is President Trump having affairs and using interns for humidors?
Did President Trump get a BJ in the Oval Office from an intern after being proudly photograph exiting Church carrying a 50lbs Bible?

Trump became a Christian AFTER his public affairs. The same can’t be said of Clinton.
