The Trump administration moved forward Thursday with its plan to open up more federal land in California’s Central Valley and Central Coast to oil and gas drilling, including fracking.

The Bureau of Land Management Central Coast Office released new documents on its proposal for oil and gas leasing and development on the public land it administers. The field office’s boundaries stretch across 11 California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz and Stanislaus.

The Center for Biological Diversity, an environmental group that opposes the plan, estimates that the proposal could open up roughly 725,000 acres of federally managed land and subsurface mineral estate to oil and gas leasing.

I wish they could drill right on the UC Berkeley campus:

That’d be great!

Notice how the paper included the entire Bay Area to alert the Bots.
There are no oil reserves in the Bay Area.
Its all about 150-200 miles south in existing oil fields now sitting idle.

First time I drove thru there I said to myself...”Oil in CA, when did that happen?”
Then I remembered the Tar Pits!

Yeah, our one-party (socialist) rulers and limousine liberals here are ojecting like crazy, buy hopefully our working class people will see through their plans to bankrupt the state (and the nation) and see this is exactly the shot in the arm California’s economy needs. Who knows. Maybe the electorate can shift our way a bit if they see conservative policies improving the economy.

If it weren't for Trump, these guys would be more on the offensive, instead of being forced to play defense. They got too zealous blocking Trump's picks, so now even the "blue card" garbage doesn't keep Trump from restoring the Ninth Circuit.

4. California
►Oil pump at south end of California's Central Valley
►California’s Central Valley is rich in oil. |

Daily average: 474,000
2017 barrels: 173.1 million

Welcome to California, the biggest oxymoron on our list. Its oil fields running down the Central Valley and along the coast make it one of the top oil-producing states in the U.S. Yet, it’s also a state where people buy the most fuel-efficient green cars because of the generous incentives. California is an oxymoron, but it’s one of the states turning the U.S. into the biggest oil-producing country on Earth.

Next: A recent surge puts this state at No. 3.

The politicians restricted water of all things (over a minnow they say) and drove many out of farming in the central valley. The high speed rail needed cheap land and insiders would buy up that land but the farmers were in the way.

Now that there is oil you can bet the California politicians will block the drilling for spite as it helps Trump and republicans and the farmers.

Jim, do you expect California to try to block fracking on their own (”this product contains chemicals known to the state of CA to cause global warming” or something)?

And speaking of water, we are running out of it. And power. And highways capable of handling our growing population. The liberals have neglected or even blocked the building of urgently needed dams, reservoirs, power stations, highways, etc. Our population has far outgrown our crumbling infrastructure. Hopefully, the corrupt and negligent democrat ruling party implodes before the state does.

The dirty little secret is that fracking is already going on in California. The state needs the money and is keeping quiet about it.
