Self-Deportations Are Rising Dramatically Under Trump Administration
Daily Caller ^ | 05/09/2019 | Jason Hopkins

The number of illegal aliens who are choosing to voluntarily deport themselves has spiked since President Donald Trump entered the White House.

Illegal immigrants who were granted voluntary departure — also known as “self-deportation” — increased by 50% in 2017, according to information compiled by The Marshall Project. In fiscal year 2018, the number of aliens who asked an immigration court for permission to leave the country on their own accord doubled from the previous fiscal year. Applications in 2018, in fact, reached a seven-year high.

The rising number of self-deportations far outpaces the 17% growth in overall U.S. immigration cases, indicating that a higher percentage of illegal migrants are opting to leave rather than face government-coerced deportation. There are incentives for illegals who choose to voluntarily leave. Instead of being held in a detention center for an indefinite amount of time or undergo a strenuous courtroom battle, undocumented immigrants can simply return to their home country. Additionally, migrants who don’t have a deportation on their record are not required to wait years to apply for a U.S. visa to re-enter the country.

For a growing number of illegals who are detained, self-deportation appears to be the best option. “They’re tired of living in here, of dealing with [Immigration and Customs Enforcement], dealing with guards, dealing with the injustice. … They give up,” said Alejandra Garcia Zamarron, a 32-year-old Mexican national who had been living in the U.S. illegally for nearly two decades until she was caught driving with an unregistered vehicle and lied to a police officer about her identity.

Zamarron chose to leave voluntarily rather than face the consequences of deportation. Zamarron, who spoke to The Marshall Project about her story, claimed her former inmates at a detention center are increasingly choosing her own route of self-deportation.

Self Deportation works.

Remember Arizona SB 1070? More than a million illegals left Arizona before black robed thugs overturned the law and ruled against it.

This article only goes into the aspects of self deportation for detainees, but if the US wants to solve this humanitarian and economic crises within a year, we need to enact Self Deportation on a massive national level.

Starve the beast.

No more welfare, education, medical, housing, etc. etc. benefits for illegals.

Do this and watch them flee the country.

Why would they need to get permission to leave from a court?

Especially when they never asked for permission to enter.

On the other side of the coin, our system really is broken. I know an illegal and his wife who were in this country over 30 years. He was a productive member of the community, and even owned his own business and employed US citizens. When it was discovered by ICE that he was illegal, he fought deportation through the courts, but they ruled that since his children were all over the age of 18 and self-supportive themselves, he had to go back anyway, in spite of the fact that he was just the kind of immigrant that you want here.

Of course, compare this to the fact that they are allowing illegal criminals to walk free as we speak.

Because they want a free ride home courtesy of the U.S. Taxpayer. I'd be willing to bet big bucks that most of these folks are back in the country within 6 months, if not less.

I’m hoping for 5 million self-deportees a week until they’re all gone.

Nope. Sorry. We want legal immigrants. If he's such a wonderful guy I'm sure the shithole he came from will be glad to have him back.

From the article: "dealing with the injustice."

Seriously. Criminals are complaining about America enforcing its laws?

They've been hanging around the ghetto.

Spot on. They get an all expense paid vacation back home to see family and then come back to the USA.

I’ve known hundreds (maybe thousands) of illegals who return and re-enter frequently. I never heard of any who went to court. They just did it. The only thing I can think of is that is was not “self-deporting”, it was an offer they couldn’t refuse.

Usually the self-deportation is seasonal. End of Fall and end of Winter this season seemed no different from other years. In both Blue IL and now in Red GA I see and talk with them (usually in the Buford Hwy, Dekalb area.) It looks like I’ll meet some in Cobb in the future. But there is a shortage of construction workers in Atlanta that is depressing the GDP. I suppose that is due to changes in immigration. Plenty of illegals are working construction in metro Atlanta. But any more are needed to handle us Yankees immigrating from the Rust Belt cities.

The article gives the percentage increase, but what are the actual numbers?

I’d carry it a step further and tell them there will be a payment waiting for them in their home country if they are among the first to volunteer for self-deportation. Fund it with massive fines to employers who didn’t verify or paid sub-minimum wage. Let the volunteer deportees point them out as they leave by filing an application for the payment.

I have been saying for years ...

Do those things and illegal aliens will deport themselves and pay for the trip. Motivation is a powerful force.

-------------------------------------

Trump has only done a few of those things and it's already causing some of them to leave.
