Arabic-speaking ‘recruitment’ videos the British government made in the 1960s show a more tolerant nation than today’s hostile environment
In the current climate of Islamophobia, I wonder how many British people are aware of a series of films made in the early 1960s, which were expressly designed to encourage people from Arab countries to come to Britain to work or study. The four films, all in Arabic, were made on behalf of the Foreign Office, and all begin with a mosque skyline and melodic chants of “Allahu Akbar”, the start of the Muslim call to prayer. They are unapologetically religious, eager to show Arabic-speaking Muslims how welcoming Britain is, how Islamic institutions exist in Britain to cater to their cultural and religious traditions, as a friendly home from home.
Two of the four films are set in London, one in Manchester, the other in Cardiff. The cheerful Egyptian presenter drives from place to place in his Ford Anglia, interviewing local Muslims in their mosques, their offices and their homes. Most of the people we are introduced to are men, but a handful are women, including a Christian convert to Islam, now the proud mother of 10 children, after 16 years of marriage to a Yemeni man in Cardiff. The presenter cuts to the mayor of Cardiff to ask how the Muslim community has integrated. “Very well,” she replies, “they are an integral part of the city. They are accepted as friends amongst the rest of the community.”

I’m heartened to see at least a third of the UK has figured out that Islam isn’t compatible with the West.

What happened?? LOL! Reality smacked you in the face.
Simple. In the 1960s, there weren’t enough Muslims in Britain to cause trouble, they played along nicely since they were so vastly outnumbered.
Over time, as the percentage of Muslims grew, their behavior started changing, and they started demanding more things from the host.

In the 1960’s many of those Middle East nations were far more modern and liberal in culture than today. In Lebanon, many women were not veiled and went to college without controversy. The fall of the Shah of Iran 40 years ago, followed by the Western hostages changed everything.
Ask former pres. Jimmy Carter how his administration handled those new radical elements. Ask him about a certain helicopter caught in a dust storm.
The British were appealing to a regional ethnicity that was suddenly near extinction, being replaced by the Taliban and other fanatics. Too late.
Even then Afghanistan was relatively modern compared to today.
If the Brits don’t rise up in armed revolt and soon, they are doomed to a future of dhimmi slavery.
Oh...that’s right...they don’t have any guns. And British police will arrest anyone caught criticizing Islam online.
Farewell, Brits. Enjoy your Muslims. And continue to lecture us Yanks about our “cowboy culture” and our “lax gun laws”.

I recall a Nat Geo article about the region from around 1960. There was a pic of Afghan soldiers wearing Wehrmacht helmets and greatcoats. They saw no contradiction and said, “Why not? We’re more Aryan than the Germans claimed to be”.
Islam can turn any people into murderous savages.
The Brits are now the Dancing Boys for their Musloid Masters...
It shows the good will and huge naivté on their part.
It proves being against Islamic immigration and recognizing the threat is not based on prejudice, but the exact opposite.
