diGenova: Sen. Burr’s subpoena of Donald Trump, Jr. is all about political theater
Fox News ^ | May 14, 2019 | Joseph diGenova

If you’re confused as to why Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., joined forces with Democrats to drag Donald Trump Jr. in for another round of questioning after he had previously given nearly 27 hours of congressional testimony, you aren’t alone.

Of course, President Trump’s son isn’t even a politician, a public official, or tangentially involved in the workings of the government. He is a private citizen whose main involvement in public life is supporting his father and the America First political agenda that’s creating a record number of jobs across the country.

The subpoena is especially troubling because the justification for it isn’t some newly unearthed “bombshell” criminal allegation. Nor is it Congress’s oversight authority.

No, Burr and his buddy, Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., are calling Don Jr. back before them for a political spectacle, likely on national television, for one reason and one reason only: the word of a convicted liar, Michael Cohen, who is President Trump’s former personal attorney.

Burr is NOT running for re-election in NC— that’s why— and he is grooming his leftist crook democrat pals probably for some kind of Beltway bandit “consulting” role.

Aside from the fact he is owned, OWNED by Big Tobacco, and is a quasi-socialist non-conservative RINO on the take— he has nothing to lose, and much to gain— as it is clear he took a LOT of direction from Sen. Warner (who was elevated into the minority chair of the Intel committee by non-other than DiFienstein— AFTER she, without consulting the committee, released the full transcript of a closed hearing of Glen Simpson, head of GPS Fusion, AND after it ramped up that she has had a chi-com spy in her office staff and tried to deflect the guy as being a “chauffeur” when he wasn’t). That di Fi who still sits on the committee but not in the “cleared security level” of the Gang of 8, like Warner is. Won’t go into the street level volumes of whispers about the “relationship” between Burr and Warner— would make you throw up (and i believe it, as a way to control Burr, frankly- probably, hopefully also known to our counterintell. The Senate intel commte is a joke, a sick one.)

Gang of 8: McConnell (MAJ), Schumer (minority), Pelosi(D-MAJ), McCarthy minority, Schiff (Dem- MAJ), Nunes (R-minority) and finally Burr (R-Maj) and Warner (Dem-minority. These are the 8 people who get HIGH Security Cleared Level Intel reports (not at the top level, as the President is at the Top), but privy to a hell of a lot, and Schiff and Warner have definitely VIOLATED that access with illegal indictable acts (one can hope will be pursued).

That potential for Warner is why Warner got Burr to make this subpoena (not simply a list of questions, but public hearing so Warner can stave off his role— his huge role in espionage).

Surely Junior’s lawyers are not going to let him get caught in a perjury trap?

He should refuse to testify.

for one reason and one reason only: the word of a convicted liar, Michael Cohen

I distinctly remember the lecture we all got from Danang Dick about "falsus in uno falsus in omnibus." Were you lying then, Mr. Stolen valor or are you lying now?

The primary purpose here is simply to discredit Donald Trump Jr., taint his populist politics, and keep the always ill-defined shadow of scandal hanging over President Trump, his family, and his agenda.
This is all only more apparent in light of the fact that there is an easy and obvious compromise here that Burr and the Democrats on his committee are refusing to consider.
Donald Trump Jr. is more than willing to answer any specific questions arising from Cohen’s dubious testimony in the form of interrogatories...

why wouldn't a person have a right to submit to interrogatories in lieu of open questioning?

See my post #5 this thread above. A whole lot more than a RINO, but a RINO who aided and abetted Warner’s actions (a lot of which are known— in clear, nevermind what our white hat counter intel people know). And, uh the rather unpleasant “steam room” rumors. One of the reasons (until don’t know when) being a homo (male or female) was disqualifying for an intel (partic. see eye ehhhh)position. And, for a person playing to his purportedly “conservative” voter supporters in Tobaccoland.... blackmailable by lib dems who really ARE agents in place for chi-coms and russkies. Seriously. the olde “In you end-oh” smearing (whether true or not, useful).
