Gateway Pundit is not a good choice for factual news, but it has been apparent for several years that the Intelligence community was out to get Flynn. I do believe that the FBI set him up and used his son to ramp up the pressure against him. His legal bills caused him to sell his house, ruining him financially.
The big question for me is this: The White House said that Flynn was fired because he lied to VP Pence. What lie did he tell to Pence?

He didn’t. When he spoke to the Russian ambassador as the incoming national security adviser, the Russian ambassador brought up Obama’s Dec 2016 sanctions (that were made to support Hillary’s story of Russian interference). He asked about ending them.
Flynn said he could not discuss them and that would need to be a topic for another day.
When he spoke to Pence he accurately said he did not discuss sanctions.
Yates went to Pence and told him Flynn was discussing sanctions. So GOPe Pence went on Face the Nation and said Flynn had lied to him.
The “lie” according to Pence was Flynn saying “I cannot discuss that”. To Pence, that is the same as “discussing” it. Just a cheesy scam Pence used to dump Flynn and bring in McMaster.
Pence was/is a snake in the grass. He was convinced by Yates and the FBI that Trump would be gone in a few months. He tried to position himself to say he had no idea.
