Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz has called a snap election following the collapse of his coalition government over a corruption scandal.
The move came after Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache resigned after secret footage emerged showing him talking to an alleged Russian investor.
Mr Kurz's centre-right People's Party has been in government with Mr Strache's far-right Freedom Party.

... In his resignation statement Saturday, Strache apologized but said he was set up in a “political assassination” that illegally used surveillance equipment.
The Chancellor (Kurz) has suggested yesterday (no actual proof) that the guy behind the fake Russian meeting in Ibiza goes back to some known Social Democrat strategist.
Having watched the entire video at least twice....I might go and suggest that fair amount of alcohol was shared out and Strache was half-way drunk when he did all this jabbering away. Curiously, no one has discussed the woman who arranged the meeting, pretending to be Russian, and pretending to be the daughter of some Russian billionaire.

What does this mean for Orban?
Ridiculous, I don’t see why such nonsense should require a new election. Just get the FPO a new leader who isn’t a moron who falls for a half-assed sting operation by the liberal media. The right wing vote seems to have held up in EU elections, which is good.
