“Time to reopen the U.S. mines!”

Yes, I have a hard time believing the leaders of our country have allowed the US to become dependent on anything. How long ago did these contract for strategic minerals become a reality?? and why??

The debt in hands of a potential enemy, communist at that, is absolutely ridiculous.

Nah, just throw in the towel and let China do all of our manufacturing for us. I bet we could get a great deal on aircraft carriers and fighter planes. Maybe even nuclear weapons. Save a lot of tax dollars. Combat boots, too. And all the tilapia we can eat. Oops, nevermind.

So we have some here? Open the mines, we must be ever mindful to keep our independence, and not totally depend on another country for whatever. Look at Germany and oil, whenever Putin wants something from Germany and they balk, he turns off the oil. We cannot totally depend on any other country when it comes to our defense.

Those of us who are miners have been saying that for years.
The Environazis and democrats have slapped so many restrictions and rules on us that we are mostly out of work and have been since the late 80’s.

There is plenty supply in the USofA. It is just cheaper to get it from China. There is a whole lot in Greenland, too, and last i looked Greenland is not part of the Russian or Chinese sphere. Relyi9ng on getting strategic materials from an avowed enemy nation is not terribly bright.

I could be wrong here but before B Clinton closed the US rare earth mines as a favor to his Indonesian buddies, the US mines were the largest and most productive in the world.
