New York State lawmakers on Wednesday gave their final approval to legislation that would allow Congress to obtain President Trump’s state tax returns.

The bill, which is expected to be signed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, would lift an existing state restriction on revealing an individual’s tax returns. It says the state Commissioner of Taxation and Finance shall release those returns if requested by the House Ways and Means Committee, Finance Committee, or Joint Committee on Taxation.

Just remember if the government can do it to the President then they can do it to anybody. Even after a different party takes over.

Federally, yes. But does that federal limitation apply to the States? For that/ matter does the NY constitution specifically ban bills of attainder? I’d hope so, but don’t know so.

No, it is not a bill of attainder because it does not mention a specific person. However, I still believe that it is unconstitutional since the various congressional committees mentioned in this law have no jurisdiction whatsoever over state tax returns.

It’s a good thing Trump is the only president in recent years to base his businesses in New York. It would be a real tragedy if the Clinton Foundation taxes were requested by the senate Finance committee.

I’m not following any of that rather keep an overview.......I tend to think he and his advisors etc. will release whatever when it’s going to make the biggest impact....or not at all until they know where it will work best.

We want all the crooks not just a few!

WTF is going on here?

If the governor of the state of New York can release PRIVATE information such as this, NOTHING IS SACRED OR PRIVATE!!

The Fookin democraps are declaring war on all of us.

Prepare to fight this and their plans, not with words, with bullets and bombs. The cross hairs must be fine tuned.
Semper Paratus.

This bill is unconstitutional.

It may or may not be a Bill of Attainder though I’m thinking it would be considered as such. Requests by Legislative bodies are not law enforcement actions. There is no valid reason for this action other than a political one. And this is specifically directed at PDJT.

All this will be held up int the courts for a long time.

Let's say they get their grubby paws on Trump's tax returns for the last 25 years. And we find out that Trump is merely a multi-millionaire who has managed not to pay taxes for the past 22 years.

Do Democrats really thing that's going to sway a single voter? Do they really think they'll get some nugget of information that will flip a Trump voter to a Democrat, especially in spite of the underhanded tactics they've displayed in scrutinizing Trump?

I mean, I'm sure this will fire up their base, but they weren't voting Trump anyway.
