I took the psych test for Submarines (basic test probably the same for all) and I remember the ‘rules’ were once you turned the page you would ‘fail’ if you went back.
At the end of a page the question was to draw a stick person. Well this was in 61 so your mind (at least mine) figured if you drew a man ‘they’ may think you are fixated on men, thereby you would be a ‘danger’ to the crew and yourself BUT if you drew a woman wouldn’t they think you were fixated on women, again you would be a ‘danger’ to yourself and the crew.
I drew the ‘popular’ stick man and let it roll and when turning the page the next question was to draw a person of the opposite sex.....(A NOT WIN QUESTION)
I had heard but never verified that there was a sort of pattern to each ‘test’ so if you answered no for question 20 say question 45 may be worded slightly different but to be correct they had to correspond. No right or wrong answer, just delving into the person.
When I was younger and full of pee&Vinegar, I used to brag I was sane and had the paper to prove it but the older I got the more convinced I was that the test wasn’t for ones sanity, it was to see if you were ‘crazy’ enough to sink a perfectly good ship or jump out of a sound aircraft or swim 20 miles in full pack etc etc...
