Russia hoax origins to be exposed as Trump authorizes AG Barr to declassify Russia probe documents
American Thinker ^ | May 24, 2019 | Thomas Lifson

Heads are exploding all over the beltway, as the unraveling of the biggest political scandal in American history enters a new stage. Make no mistake, there is a plan and a timetable designed for maximum dramatic impact. President Trump finally has taken the long-awaited step to lift the cloak of classification and uncover the weaponization of the federal government’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies against his candidacy and then presidency.

The timing is intriguing.

Coincidentally or not, this happened shortly after doing battle with Nancy Pelosi in a news conference where, in the words of the Wall Street Journal’s Michael C. Bender, he “ effectively carpet bombed what little remained of his relationship with congressional Democrats by mocking House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s intelligence, ridiculing her speaking style and calling the first woman to lead the U.S. House ‘a mess.’”

Roger L. Simon thinks that Pelosi’s public accusation of criminal activity (“cover-up”) forced Trump’s hand, but I think it I equally notable that the process was initiated right before a scheduled trip to Japan today, and the Memorial Day weekend, the traditional beginning of summer. This has the effect of muting the backlash from the mainstream media and other Democrats, and letting the process get underway during a period the bureaucrats planned as free time. I strongly suspect that AG Barr and his staff will be working through the holiday, as will those commanded in the presidential memorandum (see below) to “promptly provide” the assistance and information Barr will demand.

This order comes before the release of the DoJ Inspector General’s report. Sundance explains:

While the purpose of the authority is to empower AG Bill Barr to collect, process and declassify intelligence product that is part of the DOJ investigative review, this does not preclude the public release of intelligence

Something tells me this man is very happy about the government transparency that we are all about to see.

Liberal heads will be exploding all over DC.

That will be like an extra FireWorks display for Memorial Day.

Those documents contain exculpatory information about American citizens who have been put in jail by the big state.

Release everything. Their names will be cleared. And maybe the Deep State will take a mortal wound.

We’ll laugh at the Left when they insist - as they will - that America is harming its partners or mysteriously doing the will of Putin by declassifying these documents.

All the blame will coil back onto Obama and (!) Theresa May who colluded on this despicable coup attempt.

I think this is a big nothing burger. Conservatives are celebrating but NOTHING has been released. No points have been scored. No real offensive action has taken place. Barr could sit on this authority and do nothing or release nothing publicly. Meanwhile Dems are getting private financial records and moving toward impeachment. We need to hold off on the confetti and champagne until there is something to celebrate. That would be when someone is actually indicted. Until that happens we have zero points on the board.

I would note that Barr almost certainly has seen or will see the IG Report before it is released. He can declassify information that the IG Report needs to reveal, even before the report is released.

******************

Horowitz no longer has any excuses for delaying and foot dragging the release of his report. He probably wanted to whitewash it like he did with his previous report, but tactics for doing that have been taken away from him now.

Barr was onto his game. Next up: John Huber.

May has been PM since July 2016, about three months before Trump’s election. She’s got some splainin’ to do.

Our guys looking into wire transfers at the Treasury department will turn up lots of information.

Remember, that’s how they got Manafort, Gates and Cohen. Democrats are literally shaking!

“I think this is a big nothing burger.”

***************

I get the point of your comments but to say that this is a nothing burger is a bit of an exaggeration and ignores two key facts: (1) the memorandum was tellingly directed at a broad swath of agencies and (2) it directed recipients to “promptly provide such assistance and information as the Attorney General may request”.

This is a huge step forward in terms of breaking the bureaucratic log jam and authorizing the release of anything the AG wants to use to expose what went on, not just in Spygate but in other activities as well (e.g., Uranium One, payments to Iran, etc).

The sweeping nature of this order is a lot more than a “nothing burger”.

Yes, and she was Home Secretary before that. She must have known what was going on.

Ah well. She’s gone on the 7th June.

And ‘cooperating with a corrupt US President to spy on the next US President’ isn’t illegal in the UK - which of course is why Obama reached out in the first place.

At this point we really don’t know is Barr is going to do anything. I hope he does but only indictments matter and we have zero and no indication that will change anytime soon. Time is of the essence in these matters and we are running out of time. Ever notice how long the dems wait to use their power? They don’t. Many indictments is the only way to save our President and our country.

President Trump finally has taken the long-awaited step to lift the cloak of classification and uncover the weaponization of the federal government...

You're right - Sessions was the wrong man for the job...

Finally truth's coming out under Barr... Thugs in intel 'classify' their criminal activity and mistakes so we can't see how horrible they've become... That's coming to an end.

Nobody there may be held accountable in the legal sense but penalties come in many forms, and some can be quite punishing if you think about the possible consequences. The UK is about to find that out.

Very good article. Worth an entire read.

It talked toward the end about finding out how British intelligence agencies MI 5 and MI 6 were involved. For anyone interested these are British counterparts of our FBI and CIA, respectively.

” Classify their criminal activities and mistakes “ is the perfect way to describe how they have operated for nearly a century. This “worse than Watergate” activity Will hopefully change things.
