The speaker claims "the idea that there is an inevitability of a no-deal Brexit would be a quite wrong suggestion".

... Speaking at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC, Mr Bercow said: "The appetite of the House to have its say has recently been whetted and that appetite is not exhausted.

"Indeed, some would say, it's veracious.

"The House will want to have its say and the idea that the House won't have its say is just for the birds.

In Marxist-Leninist states, the party is seen as the vanguard of the people and from that legitimizes itself to lead the state. In that way, the party officials in the Politburo informally lead the state.

For this reason, I have my doubts that BoJo will be in the final two picks offered to the Party. Most of the Party wants to continue the ‘new deal’ speculation.

As a representative democracy, the legislative in the UK does have the right to tell the executive that it needs to follow certain items that the representatives in a majority vote deem the executive needs to follow.

If it was the SSR then the legislative just rubber-stamps the executive (without even the ability to reject)

Hancock, the health secretary, has set out his pitch alongside Jeremy Hunt that a no-deal Brexit would be all but impossible given parliament’s opposition to that outcome.

I’m sure the Europeans would love Brexit to go away and foe the UK to come back firmly under their heal but sooner or later they too will give up on this mess

For the UK to get out of their desperate mess they need the EU to cave.

The problem with that is, expecting the EU to put itself into a desperate mess.

I don’t think that is going to happen.

well, 37% of the electorate voted in a non-binding, advisory referendum for a type of Brexit (52%). It definitely wasn’t “the people” as a whole.

And, as a representative democracy, it is the representatives that decide — in the UK parliament is sovereign, not the people.

Similarly, even though Hellary got a higher % of the votes, so “the people voted” for her, she still lost as she lost the representatives i.e. the electoral college

A bastardization of a politburo is still as politburo.

The people were given a vote to Remain or Leave and after a full and lengthy debate they chose to Leave.

The Politburo has a different idea.

To conclude, given that the process was rigorously regulated with no voting irregularities or apparent breaches of funding or spending rules (a final audit by the Electoral Commission has not yet been published), the referendum outcome should be seen for what it is: a narrow but clear constitutional decision of the highest significance. It would be a democratic travesty for the result not to be accepted simply because many of us don’t like it.

If the Conservative MPs still don’t get the message after this EU rep vote, they will indeed be totally wrecking their party.

It will only be a matter of time before we have PM Farage.
