WikiLeaks' Assange too ill to appear via video link in U.S. extradition hearing

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was too ill on Thursday to appear via video link from a British prison in a hearing on an extradition request from the United States, his lawyer said.

The United States is seeking the extradition of Assange, 47, who was dragged from the Ecuadorean embassy in London on April 11. He faces a total of 18 U.S. criminal counts and decades in prison if convicted.

“He’s in fact far from well,” Assange’s lawyer, Gareth Peirce told Westminster Magistrates’ Court. She earlier told Reuters he was too ill to attend the hearing by videolink.

Judge Emma Arbuthnot, who was presiding over the case, added: “He’s not very well.”

WikiLeaks said it had grave concerns about Assange’s health and that he had been moved to a health ward at London’s Belmarsh high-security prison.

“During the seven weeks in Belmarsh his health has continued to deteriorate and he has dramatically lost weight,” it added in a statement. “The decision of prison authorities to move him to the health ward speaks for itself.”

Is Assange stalling for time or is the Deep State tying up loose ends?

He looked horrible the day they took him from the embassy; was perhaps already sick.

It would not surprise me if there was something going on related to HRC and covering up the death of Seth Rich. Maybe his food is being poisoned?

There are all kinds of ways of making someone sick these days. Look at what happened to our embassy personnel.

Rumours are that he is being poisoned while in custody. If he dies, they can close the case without a trial. If it goes to trial, he might reveal everything.

Wow.

He’s in jail in England, not North Korea. You’d think they’d find a way to keep him healthy.

His lawyer should ask him to clandestinely give a blood sample (a couple drops should do) if he can and have it tested.

Good luck wid dat

He is at the mercy of the British NHS (National Health System) as administered in a UK prison

Read what they did to Tommy Robinson while he was in jail

Robinson says that after being initially housed in a prison with a low Muslim population of just 7 percent, he was transferred to another prison with the largest Muslim population in the UK, and housed directly across from the mosque. Robinson tells Tucker: "What I'm known for is criticizing Islam, so there's been many planned attempts to murder me and kill me in this country."

He said he was placed in solitary confinement where he spent "two months not seeing or speaking to anybody," during which he lost 40 pounds from a diet of "one tin of tuna and a piece of fruit a day."

(he refused to eat prison food that was prepared by other prisoners...was only allowed a small weekly cash amount to purchase his food)

was supposed to be in Her Majesty's prison service, not Guantanamo Bay. I couldn't open my windows because I have excrement and spit put through them. I believe this whole piece - and, Tucker, this isn't the first So, every prisoner would walk past my cell window. Everyone, as they walk out. So, when my windows were open, every prisoner is walking past. But the mosque for the prison was directly opposite my cell. -Tommy Robinson

Robinson said he had to close his window amid sweltering heat spells to avoid all the excrement and spit flying into his cell from passersby.

He also said, reluctantly, also admitted that he was diagnosed with a form of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which he has never spoken about publicly "because I don't want to insult members of the military who have witnessed war to try and compare to being locked in a cell in solitary confinement."

Robinson also describes his arrest, and claims his lawyer (solicitor) has evidence that authorities said he was being released - only to be jailed hours later:

They took me in a van back to the court through the back door. They put me up before a judge. And the media reports have said that I pled guilty. At no point was I even asked whether I was guilty or not guilty.

If Assange dies, we can assume that the Deep State is closing up loose ends and that our country is lost.

Trump isn’t enough by himself.

The UK was helping to spy on Trump. I could see motive for not wanting Assange to testify. And food prepared by prisoners?! I wish he were in a more controlled environment.
