Yep. Kentucky has a state income tax. However, there is no income tax on Social Security. If you play your cards right, you can live here pretty cheaply. And if you have your own chickens, a garden and a cow or three, even cheaper.
The downside is that it means there is more “riff raff”. ;) That is why we have more people on disability. You can literally live on it here, so people fight hard for it. My neighbor was told by two different doctors that he was not eligible, but he kept pressing and finally found someone that would rubber stamp his request.
He’s not living in the lap o’ luxury, but he’s doing fine, and even has a motorcycle. It’s not licensed or insured, but since the local sheriff is his cousin and you never, EVER see cops around here, he uses it to putter around in a five mile radius. :)
Our place is on a knob and, when the trees have leaves, it is utterly private. We don’t see his place in the valley (and it is about 500 yards away).
The only downside here is the bugs. But I discovered permathrin a few years ago so that’s no longer an issue.
Yeah, we got bugs in North Texas too.
I’ve avoided permathrin because we have flowering plants in our yard that Mrs. L,TOWM likes and that stuff does in bees, too.
Carry on FRiend!

How about copperheads?
