Multibillion-dollar business software provider Salesforce announced on Thursday that it would no longer do business with anyone who legally sells certain firearms or ammunition magazines.

The corporation, worth around $120 billion, updated its Acceptable Use and External Facing Services Policy to ban anyone using their software from selling nearly all modern semiautomatic rifles and many other semiautomatic firearms.

I’ve heard the argument that if conservatives can refuse to bake the cake, Salesforce can refuse to help sell guns. Thoughts?

I’ve heard of Salesforce, but I’ve never used their software. Is there a software company with a comparable product? If so, this sounds like a good opportunity to expand market share.

What a crappy company! We value our American heritage and liberties and now will avoid doing business with them

Seems crappy of sales force to do this. I’m sure they knew what each company sold and did for a living when they signed sales contracts and after they secure that business they either decide to enforce their “community standards” or alter their standards to screw over companies they worked hard to get under contract.

And yes there are other marketing platforms that could be used

If this same firm stated they wouldn’t do business with anyone who had Blacks on their staff, the Justice Department would be on it immediately.

Why is this allowed?

This company is seeking to deny citizens their Constitutional rights.

Can they refuse to sell to black customers?

If they are like Google, then they are in essence a public utility subject to regulation as the same including enforcement of laws against monopolistic behavior.

Fine. If they go out of business, they have nobody to blame, only themselves.

This action isn’t just virtue signally. They are out to actively harm gun industry firms on their platform.

It’s not easy to just switch from Salesforce to another CRM / sales management platform.

Companies build their processes and workflow into Salesforce over time. Automation, approvals, contacts, sales materials, applications, agreements, proposals, etc...

Moving to another platform represents an enormous undertaking in time and expense.

What the gun industry companies should do is sue Salesforce for breach of contract and damages. Those companies have invested in the platform, and now the software provider is changing the terms of use based on political ideology.

Because the 1964 civil rights law - now expanded to sexual behaviors and soon transsexuals. Says the people on that list can never be refused service. Ergo - anybody not on that list can be demonized and driven from society without punishment.

The only people not on that list? White heterosexual males.

Maybe what we need is a Black owned business to sue these guys out of business, or take it up as a class action suit for all the businesses that would be affected.

Need to amend the script!

Seinfeld to Costanza: "and you wanna be my latex salesman." Well, you'll have to do so unarmed!"

Right - if we just put a black man on the Supreme Court he’ll be respected and listened to.
