Since we only export $1.5T per year, any global recession can't hurt all that much. Even if demand for our exports is cut in half that is only a $.75T cut in our total economy on an annual basis.

The math: .75/21.5 = 3.4% decline. Yes 3.4% GDP decline in one year would hurt but there is a domestic market for most of the goods we export. And this would be a worst case scenario.
