Lakewood baker Jack Phillips is again facing legal action for declining to bake a cake for an LGBTQ customer. There’s just one big difference this time: the state of Colorado isn’t involved.
Attorneys for Autumn Scardina, a transgender woman, filed a complaint against Phillips in state court Wednesday. In 2017, Scardina ordered a cake from Phillips to celebrate her birthday and gender transition. Phillips declined, citing his Christian beliefs and Scardina filed a complaint with Colorado’s Civil Rights Commission.
In March, Attorney General Phil Weiser dropped the case filed on Scardina’s behalf. In exchange, Phillip’s attorneys agreed to end their own discrimination complaint against the state.
The truce gave Phillips a brief reprieve. By reviving the case on their own, Scardina and her attorneys hope to force the courts to decide whether Phillip’s action amounted to discrimination under Colorado law — without worrying about whether the state itself wants to pursue the issue.

Phillips said customers often ask him to bake cakes that violate his Christian religion, such as Halloween cakes and he always declines. Phillips has said he also declines to bake cakes that are disrespectful of LGTBQ people.

Discovery should be interesting as it if it is shown she/he is receiving “backdoor” assistance from state officials then the might still be open to a slap down by higher courts. The state settled and dropped the case Scardina still wants to raise separate from official state civil rights commission help. Yet she’ll have to rely on evidence gathered or submitted to by that same civil rights commission without “official” help from that commission. Rather slimy but still open to federal intervention.

This time the plaintiff has bypassed the commission and filed directly in state court because the state settled her/his/its last complaint.
Basically, an unhinged transgender attention seeker wants to put it back before SCOTUS and get a full and final ruling.
I hope this turns out to be a disastrous strategic legal error for the whackdoodle and they get slapped down hard.

Here is a political "court" that indicted and heavily penalized (economic sanctions) a man who refused to be complicit (a legal position) in breaking both the law of God as well as the highest state law at the time, the CO constitution (which defined marriage as btwn a man and a women), by refusing to agree to create a special cake for the express purpose of celebrating a out-of-state homosexual marriage (which CO law also did not recognize).

Meaning despite the above that is the best they would do, rather than stating that CO had no case even if they were acting impartially, that Phillips was the one acting lawfully. Instead they basically seemed to just say that the motive of CO was too (transparent) partial in prosecuting Phillips, which is akin to saying homosexual marriage is only wrong based upon motive.
However, having made it illegal for states not to recognize homosexual marriage, then in effect it forces every state to sleep in the bed SCOTUS (5 to 4) made, and salute the flag of Sodom. Or (at least) suffer economic sanctions if they do not.
Wow you would think this is the most popular bakery for gay and trans-gendered people in the world. What a coincidence.
This state-sponsored harassment isn’t just about decorating a cake. It’s a warning to all those with unpopular opinions to stay in line.
