Former Oklahoma state senator is found dead inside his house just one day after another former GOP senator was shot dead at her Arkansas home (full title).
Senator Jonathan Nichols was found dead with a gunshot wound Wednesday. He was discovered inside his house and a police source reportedly said a gun was in the room where he was discovered at his home in Norman.
Police would not confirm or deny the detail due to their ongoing investigation. A family member called 911 for the man who was married with two children.
His body was found 500 miles from Linda Collins-Smith - a GOP Arkansas former senator - who was found shot dead Tuesday.
Her death is being treated as a murder investigation but cops are not looking for suspects in Nichols' case. Cops told DailyMail.com: 'We have no reason to believe the two cases are linked'
Nichols was fired from University of Oklahoma on president's first day last year. Nichols' most recent role was Senior Policy Advisor for Speaker Charles McCall.
Republican and Democratic peers were shocked and saddened about his death.

Yikes.
Very strange.
“Obviously suicide!”
And the gun across the room?
“Accidental discharge!”
If ruled a suicide, then he’s a likely suspect for the murder or else he’s a bereaved lover. Or it’s a coincidence.
Well I am in Arkansas and while news was sill flowing about the case it was stated by several in State news agencies that the FBI was getting involved...Then that local County Judge slapped a gag order on all news concerning the case which was highly unusual for that to happen. BTW I had met this Senator several times at Pro 2nd Amendment meetings and at a Lady who ran for GOP Governor who was close friends to her....Very sweet lady!
The article didn’t say “across the room”. It said “police source reportedly said a gun was in the room where he was discovered at his home in Norman.” More info needed.
Another article said the gun was on a table across the room.
Ok. Thanks!
Sure there is a border, there is just a large contingent on the wrong side of it.
There wasn’t a border for the Vietnam War, neither.
Welcome.
Of course, just because it was in that other article doesn’t mean it’s true.
With our enemy urinalists, er, journalists these days it seems one has to independently verify reported facts.
Yeah. When they say it was on the table one kind of assumes it was across the room or something. Of course it’s possible he was standing by a table shot himself and the gun fell onto the table. Seems unlikely but possible depending on where he was relative to the table. I would like to know more to see whether their claim of suicide makes walking around sense.
Tick...Tock...
Well, what the article linked in 34 has is this “Jonathan Nichols body was found in his Norman home, and a gun was on a table across the room, law enforcement sources told The Oklahoman.”
So who honestly knows.
I wondered how long it might take for the left’s violent talk on the airwaves to morph into actual political assassinations. Were the shoe on the other foot, we’d be hearing about right-wing news sites. Third World here we come.
When did the Clintons move back to Arkansas?
Of course there was, McNamara had dozens of kings X lines that we were not allowed to cross and drop bombs. Then there was the 35th parallel in the police action before that.
