McConnell already said there’s no problem with a year-four appointment.

There is nothing preventing a president from appointing a Supreme Court justice at any time during their presidency, all BS about a "Biden Rule" to the contrary not withstanding. McConnell didn't act on Garland because he didn't want to. He'd act on a Trump appointment next year should the opportunity arise because he does want to.
