No matter how *nice* the resort may be, or look, remember what surrounds the property.
Not pretty.
About 10 years ago we took a company cruise trip with a stop in Belize. We decided to take a group trip to drift through caverns in inner tubes. It was fun. Only issue was as you left Belize, heavily armed guards were stationed at the gates that protected the city. Not wise going into the jungle unarmed. Never again.
