NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — An emotional Jon Stewart, who was on Capitol Hill on Tuesday for a Congressional hearing on the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund, was given the turnout coat of FDNY legend Ray Pfeifer, who died from 9/11-related cancer two years ago.

Pfeifer, who served more than 27 years with the FDNY, was at the World Trade Center after the buildings collapsed on Sept. 11, 2001 and worked for months on the toxic pile at ground zero.

He was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and made the trip to Capitol Hill dozens of times to lobby for 9/11 health and compensation bills before his death at age 59 in 2017.

Katie Pavlich who was on the Five last night indicated that the maybe the hold up on this bill is the result of other folks who weren’t part of the First Responders are trying to pet a piece of the pie. Yes Congress should resolve issues faster.

He was grandstanding a little but he's a new yorker and may well have known many people who died either in the attack or its aftermath. It's an emotional topic for all Americans (real ones, not ISIS representatives like Ilhan Omar) but particularly so for New Yorkers because it was an attack not just on their country but on their own city, friends, and families. So I cut them slack on such matters.

I only say he was grandstanding because he knows, as everyone knows, that this will pass with overwhelming support. So the level of self righteous outrage was a tad over the top.

I kind of thought that, too.

Nobody with a heart is going to deny firefighters or cops their due pay.

Especially those on 9/11.

But I thought that they already got generous payouts.

I *knew* there had to be a union payout angle buried in here, somewhere.

"a huge slush fund for NYC employees who already have gold-plated Cadillac health care plans. Same as every veteran who even heard of Iraq or Afghanistan has PTSD and merits 100% disability." So says a worthless civilian never been who A.) Couldn't find either Iraq or Afghanistan on a map, and B.) Never had to deal with the V.A.

Back in 2015, the 9/11 First Responders Fund was allotted with $7.4 BILLION that was supposed to last through 2020.

22,000 people filed claims. The money started running out, so payouts were cut in half.

The guy is an islamo pandering jerk. This creep runs cover for Islam and defends Islam against countries that try to defend themselves from their depredations, and now he is supposed to be the spokesman for victims of terrorism? The Brooklyn Bridge is on sale again.

I’ve always hated him, but also found him great in this particular instance.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all us little folk realized that NONE of them put us first?

Exactly. Politics is not a team sport. We need to fight for the rights of us people and our freedom. And we need to help and protect our first responders.

No, but you get me wrong. I’m not ragging on service members or veterans. My beef is with the Leftist media, Hollywood celebutards, and the d-bags in the govt. who treat all of us as victims. They hate the military, except to use us as political props for their purposes. I don’t want everyone who has served in the past 20 years to believe they have PTS and should receive disability for it; that’s nonsense. Ok for those who truly need the consideration, but not everyone. I have conditions for which I could claim, but not gonna do it. This country has given me far more than I could give back. And good on ya’, too.
