Almost a year after Oregon state Rep. Janelle Bynums story of being questioned by police after a 911 call on her as she campaigned in her district went viral and sparked the hashtag #CampaigningWhileBlack, Oregon state senators have passed a bill that would allow the victims of frivolous, discriminatory 911 calls to sue the callers.
On Monday, the Oregon state Senate passed House bill 3216, a measure introduced by the states three black Democratic legislators, including Bynum. The bill allows victims of these calls to sue a 911 caller for as much as $250 if the victim can prove that the 911 call was racially motivated and that the caller intended to discriminate or harm the reputation of the victim.
The legislation was overwhelmingly supported by state lawmakers of both parties, but it was deeply personal for Bynum, the only black legislator in the Oregon House (the other two black legislators serve in the state Senate.)
When someone gets the police called on them for just existing in public, it sends a message that you dont belong here, Bynum told the Associated Press on Monday. This creates a legal pathway to justice.

Can they still call about McDonald’s shorting them a french fry?
Define racist legally.
Oh, and then there is this to deal with: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;
Law can’t hold up.
“Racism” is a one-way street.
It’s called “affirmative action” when the target is white.
Who will decide the intent behind such 911 calls?
Top. Men.
Oh wait, that’s sexist in our LGBTQIAXYZ++ world...
“SWATTING” white people still OK.
$250.00?lol.Looks like small claims for you. Can’t imagine any lawyer dumb enough to take this on a contingency, lol. But who knows. This is merely posturing nonsense because the proof alone needed to prove this would have to be explicit racial assertions.
So in many northern states from late November through March 911 systems get deluged with well-meaning cell phone callers saying that they’ve passed a farm and “there is a little building on fire—smoke is pouring out of it”.
911 dutifully follows the scripted “working structure fire” dispatch.
For a perfectly functioning SMOKEHOUSE.
So do we get to sue those idiot urbanites?
If you see something, dont say anything.
Translation: Black people are supposed to get away with breaking laws.
That effing cracker shot my gerbil
“If you see something, dont say anything.”
Exactly.
