After President Trump commented on the idea of receiving foreign dirt on an opponent on Thursday, cable news pundits fully dedicated themselves to moving the goal posts for what constitutes colluding with a foreign adversary. On At This Hour With Kate Bolduan, CNN reporter Evan Perez simultaneously downplayed the significance of the Steele dossier and failed to explain which 2016 campaign had actually paid a foreign adversary for opposition research (spoiler: it was the Hillary Clinton campaign).
Perez seemed to conclude that Trumps hypothetical comments are much worse than the actual effect the Steele dossier had on the 2016 election because the dossier was written by someone connected to U.S. ally Great Britain, and because it was obtained by the FBI.
On one hand, you have Christopher Steele, whos a former spy for the British intelligence services, one of the closest allies of the United States, who was who again had a record of working with the FBI on investigations, and that information was used as part of a FISA application on Carter Page, Perez said.

Among the sources for the fraudulent dossier that Steele claimed he got information from were:
A: senior Russian Foreign Ministry figure; B: former top level Russian intelligence officer still active inside the Kremlin; C: senior Russian financial official; and G: senior Kremlin official.
The Clinton campaign and the DNC were colluding with Russian officials and paying them to make up unsupportable and unverifiable stories that would be damaging to then candidate and later President Trump.
The Obama administration FBI was also paying Steele and were colluding with Russia to get stories damaging to Trump.

And yet the small number of fools who actually watch CNN, still believe in CNN.
The big thing here is that Trump s working strategically and forcing his opponents to act in a short term tactical fashion that is going to come back to haunt them. They just cant help themselves
CNN hid Saddam Husain’s criminality in Iraq so they could keep a news bureau there. The media collaborates with foreign entities all the time in pursuit of their unsupportable and unverifiable stories.
Because the "pundits" probably had it pointed out to them that all their ranting and raving about what Trump said would be brought up in Hillary's trial.
They did the same thing with their coverage of Tienamin Square, choosing to the show the picture of the guy in front of the tank, instead of the 3800 dead bodies so they could keep a bureau in Beijing.
