More and more companies are putting out virtue-signaling statements about how they simply cannot fathom doing business in a state that limits abortions.
Its just too awful.
Last week, CEOs from more than 180 companies released an ad in the New York Times denouncing the abortion bans in states like Georgia and Alabama as being bad for business.
Equality in the workplace is one of the most important business issues of our time, the ad stated. When everyone is empowered to succeed, our companies, our communities, and our economy are better for it. Restricting access to comprehensive reproductive care, including abortion, threatens the health, independence and economic stability of our employees and customers. Simply put, it goes against our values, and is bad for business.
Not killing babies is bad for business. Got it.
One company, however, realize that whats ACTUALLY bad for business is sticking your nose in something completely unrelated t what you do.
Delta Airlines, Georgias largest employer, realizes this and has notably decided to stay neutral.
According to Daily Wire:
Delta Air Lines is one of the largest employers in Georgia, but the airlines chief executive said Tuesday the company will not take a stand on the states restrictive abortion law, which other corporate leaders have called bad for business,' reports NBC News.
The fetal heartbeat law essentially bans abortion once doctors detect an unborn childs heartbeat in the mothers womb, which typically happens after 5-6 weeks of pregnancy. Ed Bastian, Delta Airlines CEO, said that the courts should decide the laws fate.
This is something that the courts need to settle and resolve, not corporate America. At least for us. I cant win, Bastian said at Recodes annual Code Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Bastian added that the company did not want to take a stand on an issue that is uncomfortable for the many employees and customers that patronize Delta Airlines. We carry 200 million people a year, we have 80,000 employees, he said. We cannot as a company take one group and put it over another group when youve got such an emotional some would say almost religious view as to what the right answer is.
Now THIS is smart.
How does an organization with thousands upon thousands of employees and customers think its a good idea to weigh in on something this divisive?
Delta is an airline. That has NOTHING to do with abortion and Im glad theyre keeping it that way.
Atlanta is an air hub for a number of airlines.
Delta already learned its less with its post-Parkland pandering.
Corporations really are against us. They’re for unfettered abortion and banning guns and waving around rainbows. Part of me wishes the Left when they get back into power jack up their taxes sky high, because screw them at this point.
Bad move Delta.
Why is it a bad move to stay out of it?
So what should they do? Go pro-abort like the rest of the commie-run corporations?
I just flew Delta last week.
Good job Delta.
Good for Delta! I belong to a quasi-governmental historical group and we are constantly asked by people in our area to come out in favor (or against) some bill or idea or city government proposal.
In my 10+ year tenure on the board, including 2 as President, we have taken a stand on exactly 1 issue, and that was one that affected something people in our neighboring building wanted to do. Other than that one issue that had a direct affect on us, we have maintained a strict neutrality policy on issues that don’t directly affect us. That might be a little bit of sticking our head in the sand. But, as my father, who owned a retail business, taught me, never take a stand that will annoy half of your possible customers.
Infiltrate and gain control of big business.Glad to see that Delta still bucks that trend to a degree.
Communist goal #37
We are in an economic civil war. Most corporations have chosen the dark side of politics (the Left). Delta Airlines, for now at least, is a notable exception.
*its lesson
So then why should we or the GOP support big businesses? They seem to be against the GOP agenda ....
Looks like I misread it.
OK.
I can understand wanting them to not straddle the fence though.
I agree.i dont like this thinking that you cant buy even a sandwich from someone who has a different political viewpoint from you.
I’m making one of my rare, but not rare enough for me, business trips next week. I’m now kind of wishing corporate travel had put me on Delta, or maybe United (both “preferred” options). Nope, I’m on American and they have already screwed up (ie changed) both a flight on my outbound leg, and the entire return leg, 8 and 12 days out... I’m afraid to check my email for fear of what the next change will be. If it were at all reasonable to drive it, I would.
I agree we are in an "economic civil war" but the ultimate bottom line. . .we are in a "Spiritual war" for the souls of America. . .the economy will be the least of our worries when God puts the hammer to us for murdering his creation as well as committing other sins.
Atlanta is Delta’s headquarter city. Their not going to move!
Firing squad at dawn.
Would you prefer blindfold or not?
Marlboro Reds or Luckies?
Your choice
Godspeed ....examples must be set.
We need a FREEPER list of pro-sanity, pro-American values businesses that we can visit.
I know that we throw away Dick’s Sporting Goods Store advertising mails we receive in the mail. My son shops elsewhere for shooting/camping equipment and he spends some good money on supplies.
I boycott Papa John’s Pizza over one of their internal issues.
Won’t buy anything “Levis” and we spread the word throughout our family.
The same for sporting goods from companies that are aholes on the Left and have bought into Crapperhead’s Marxist rantings.
Come on folks. Make this list something we can live buy.
