Medicare already sets prices. Problem is every doc you see can run the exact same test even if it’s not in their Baliwick. I see 4 Specialist with a Primary, each specialist wants to run their own test, then the Primary his set. Some over lap, Medicare has started to clamp down on this. So I have to remind the Primary NOT to step on the Specialist toes. Many of the Test my ENDO runs are run by the Primary, I try and see him 2 weeks before and have the restults sent to the Primary where they may sit in some office workers In box for weeks before they are put on the computer.
Since I’m married to a 40 yr Electronic/Computer Prof who has a daughter who owns her own It business I refuse to use Portals that can BE HACKED. I may not be a nerd that they are, but I fully understand Everything is Hack-able.
Computer systems are NOT compatible with in the same health system even. 1 Methodist dr computer system does not mesh with the system of another. And when you use 2 or 3 different ones, NONE of them talk to each other. Lab reports have to be Faxed over to sit in someone’s in box until they are put on their computer.
Then you add in Tricare Life (Ret. Military over 65) another Governemnt DoD controlled healthcare plan which is Secondary to Medicare, you get told you can’t use discounts, coupons, etc. Because all medications and the 20% they cover is DoD neogatied prices. So you have to keep up with both Medicare and DoD regs that change yearly. Nor do they have the same advantages of vision, hearing aids, or eye glasses that many of the private plans offer. Unless you are the Service Memeber who was Injured on Duty. You have NO RIGHTS OF APPEAL either when they eliminate the 1 med you can take. Hubby’s hearing aids and dentures were Service Connected, MINE as a Spouse are totally OUT of POCKET as are his glasses. For Seniors that’s thousands of $$ a year, and not 1 cent is deductable on income taxes. WE paid off the House, cars, and owe no one anything. We are forced to file Short Form. No way we can reach $26 K to file long form. All medical expense should be decuctible. Even Cosmetic that is used to fix a Medical conditon such as a bad Catract Implants, Lasix is the Cosmetic Fix and should be considered a Medical fix for a medical problem.
Medicare just told Knee Orthos to stop doing Partial Knee implants, and do Full ones, even if the Patient doesn’t need a full knee. Which adds up to a much larger bill with Rehab and surgery, office visits. Hubby has 2 partial Knees and they work great, 1 is 9 yrs old, the other 2 yrs old. Rehab was done at home. Driving in 3 days, walking up stairs carefully, never used a cane or walker until the 2nd knee because Medicare demanded it.
Agree, Healthcare will need to be addressed.

A problem with ‘health care plans’ is the people pushing them are like that monster Jonathan Gruber (of ObamaCare fame) who’s goal was to hoodwink the American people and hand us on a platter to the rip-off ‘health care Industry’...
Maybe we should set up a daily thread about this issue so WE (the people) can have input into how improvements could be made to health care. I feel Trump would value our input - while liberals only want to sell advantage to their base. And the GOPE doesn’t give a damn about us either - they’ve ‘got theirs’ which is all they care about.

I simply don’t have the time or energy as I did when we fought Obamacare. My fight now is PAIN and the Lies being told about Pain Meds. When 99% is Illicit drugs. You can’t get MSM, Doctors, Hospitals, ER, Politicians to change their language. PAIN MEDS is just that, Illicit Drugs are Opioids. They use the same word to mean both. CHRONIC pain is short term up to 1 yr, and has other Treatments. Where as INTRACTABLE PAIN last a LIFE TIME 10-50 Yrs. Those who were FORCED TAPERED have had so many Heart Attacks with Death, Suicides, 22 VETERANS per day, more younger ones than Seniors now. Cancer Patients can’t get their scripts filled. Ins companies have Stopped paying for Pain Meds. 50 States have passed Draconian laws. Can you imagine being 78 break a hip need it replaced or Open Heart Surgery and all you get is 2 350 mg Tylenol Tablets for PAIN?
I’ve had 4 Abdominal surgeries and it takes 14 days of at the very least 7.5 Mg NORCO before you can reach the Tylenol 600 mg 2 tablet stage.
I just had 2 manger dental surgeries 2 days of 7.5 Mg NORCO was all I was allowed, 2 weeks of PAIN.
Adhesive Arachnoiditis of the Spine comes in stages, most AA patients kill themselves by stage 2. It is the equivalent to Stage 4 Bone Cancer. There is NO treatment, No fix, only Pain Meds at 90 MG Morphine a day allow you to be able to get up and go to the bathroom. My Linzess that empties the Paralyzed Colon, needed a Letter of Prior Authorization from the Gastro, he sent one in. They needed MORE info. That got sent in too, We get back a letter from Express Scripts MORE info is needed. Finally today there is a letter saying it is approved. I’ve been taking Linzess for over 2 yrs, never needed Prior Authorization.
That SIBO antibiotic generic is $1,500 for 2 weeks, it must be gotten from the base Pharmacy, which is a Old WW 2 walk in not retrofitted as Handicapped Friendly. The new Check in System that caused Chaos because NO core man was assigned to show people how to use it has been broken for 3 months now. They did add a 3rd row of Hard Plastic seats. It is designed for Walk in’s. Not wheelchairs, Oxy tanks. They remodeled the entire Exchange, but NOT the Pharmacy last year. More Spaces were assigned for Brass parking, leaving fewer for Handicapped who were DoD Mandated to use the Base Pharmacy a few years ago. Now 2 people man the counter, 1 intake, 1 hand out scripts. You call Pensacola for Refills 5 days early. Few Trust Express Scripts because they are not a good place to deal with if you use Auto Pay or Credit Cards, Use only checks after you receive your meds, IF the USPS can find the RIGHT HOUSE. Takes them 2 weeks to fill a script and 2 weeks for a Refill.
Thankfully this is a higher Military Retirement area and we all just take each others Meds over to their homes. If your med has to be refrigerated it comes in a dry ice Styrofoam box.
Just a thought. Maybe one of yo guys can organize all the retirees and compile a large list of complaints about Tricare and Script then send it to PDJT. You might get a full investigation started and resolution to the problems.

Labeled drug seekers. Pharmacy’s are given your treatment plan which violates HIPPA. Big chain ones Refuse to fill Cancer Patients scripts.
You have a 100 + Million Pain Patients. I’m 1. I just understand politics better than the average voter. We have no cures, no treatments. We are offered Snake Oil. Medtronic CRAP DEVICES. Take a nature walk, listen to music, do Yoga, use Lyrica, Neurontin, horrible drugs never should have been FDA approved. Do you really think we’ve not tried every thing before turning to a Pain Med? Now we are more disabled and on DSSI or Medicare/Tricare Life we get less. I’ll be 71 in Aug, I can barely walk to the bathroom. Thankfully we do have Lift Assist, as a 79 yr old man is not going to lift me and I’m only 5 ft size 12 only because of a Gastro disease.

I have a niece dying of the worse form of Lupus there is she isn’t 40, has 2 kids, her 14 yr old has Duchenes MD and can’t get a referral to a Pediatric Neurologist as their Healthcare is Medicare and the Crap Forerunner of Obamacare TENN-CARE (TN Medicaid) that requires a referral. The question is who will die first from lack of proper care.
My brother died of Alcoholism, related heart attack 2 yrs ago after choosing to get clean. My BIL has late onset Duchenes MD and needs a wheelchair, sister was just diagnosed with MS. Every male has to be gene tested for Duchene’s now.
