Just two weeks after the deadly shooting in Virginia Beach that left 12 people dead, the mainstream media is strangely silent. Why? Perhaps the story of Kate Nixon, one of the victims in the massacre, might have something to do with it.
The Virginian Pilot:
Kate Nixon was a fixer.
As a supervisor in the public utilities department for a decade, she solved problems for the city and was described as logical and level-headed.
So when she told her husband, Jason, that she had concerns about two of her co-workers, he knew it was serious. She didn't like to be around DeWayne Craddock, a fellow engineer he gave off "real bad vibes" and she'd had to write him up several times for issues with performance and attitude. They both worked on the second floor of Building 2 in the Municipal Center.
But on the night of May 30, it was another man she was most worried about. Kate told her husband that the man, whom Jason Nixon declined to identify, was set to be fired Friday and there was supposed to be a police escort on scene when it happened. While cooking dinner, she expressed her concerns.
"She said, 'This guy's going to come back and shoot the place up,' " Jason Nixon said. He encouraged his wife to hide a pistol in her purse and take it to work she had training and knew how to use it but she didn't want to break city policy forbidding employees from bringing weapons to work.

Screw policy, if it is concealed, nobody knows you’re carrying.

I had to change the way I dressed to accomadate a IWB holster wear larger untucked shirts. Practice with two different guns, one a stagger stack for winter coat and jacket weather and a single stack for summer tee shirt weather. I carry always and gun free zones are me free zones. They will get you killed.
Lurkin is right ... nobody needs to know if youre carrying. Just keep it concealed and keep your damn mouth shut.
Seriously, how many times have you been frisked except at the airport? Once, maybe, in your entire life? Relax, kid.
I carry everywhere unless they have metal detectors, regardless of signs.
Yep. Unless you are wanded, searched, or made to walk through a TSA-style magnometer .go ahead and carry concealed.
Carrying what?
To paraphrase nuzzlin’ joe: “One word kid. Glock plastic guns and bullets.”
Except, at work you need to be consistently concealed, day after day for years. Screw up, and you can lose your job, let down your family and all those you’ve sworn to support. It’s not worth it for me, but everyone has to make their own risk assessment.
A Ruger LCP or a Taurus TCP can be carried in your front pocket and no one knows it’s there.
Never take it out, never tell anyone it’s there.
Husband needs to sue the city for failure to protect the workers and violating the 2nd amendment.
Carrying what?
Heat ... firepower ... a gun, of course.
My, what a clever idea! Too bad rktman didn't think of it...
