The Forest Service has designed the padlock system for their gates which has steel cover over the padlock. You can only
unlock the padlock with a key in a very small opening.
A bolt cutter cannot reach the shackle.
Next time you see a Forest Service locked gate check it out.
Out here they use mostly steel cable hidden in kind of a box like structure, oxy-acetylene torch goes through it like a hot knife thru butter.
Only thing faster would be a portable plasma cutter.

I have a lock pick in .308. Works every time.

They also have their own special keys. If you get caught with one your in big trouble.
