Not everything has to be military response. To many people on these boards think of the military as a simple solution for complex problems. War should be a last resort, and when implemented, should be so horrific it ends quickly. I think Trump understands this concept, perhaps the first POTUS in my lifetime. I believe he is planning to hurt Iran by further isolating it economically......which is why they are already lashing out. They made a mistake because the picked on a POTUS who really knows how to hurt them.

True that. When necessary, war should be intense retaliations of devastating punishment that is concluded as quickly as possible. The point being to convince an adversary that they should never provoke you again.

Case in point: I recently “invaded” and area inhabited by a small colony of wasps which provoked an immediate and intense defensive response by the insects. I will give them plenty of space in the future. :)

With dictatorships, like Iran, force if the only language that they'll understand.

Iran has been a thorn on everybody's side for decades, and each time they test us and the world, they end up emboldened to do something even crazier.

Dictatorships don't understand and/or don't care about the hardships that they're people suffer as a consequences of their actions. Thus, economic and diplomatic actions won't be deterrence at all. Fear of military action and is the only thing they understand, unfortunately.
