A woman whose unborn baby was killed in a 2018 Pleasant Grove shooting has now been indicted in the death.
Marshae Jones, a 27-year-old Birmingham woman, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury on a manslaughter charge. She was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Though Jones didn’t fire the shots that killed her unborn baby girl, authorities say she initiated the dispute that led to the gunfire. Police initially charged 23-year-old Ebony Jemison with manslaughter, but the charge against Jemison was dismissed after the grand jury failed to indict her.

The legal system is beyond insane, it is dangerous.

Don’t pick fights while pregnant.
They said they blamed her because she started and pursued the fight and the shooting was in self defense.
I read about this yesterday.

Oops, can’t be admitting an unborn baby is a real little human with rights.
If that’s the reasoning of the “legal system” then all who participated in that decision need to be fired or go to jail or both.
I don’t know... sounds like this woman attacked another woman, who then defended herself... the resulting shot killed the baby.
The woman who fired the shot was not indicted, the grand jury refused to.. which implies (while not stated) she was engaging in self defense.
That means, if the shooter shot in self defense, then this woman was the initiator, and is responsible for that child’s death... That’s not blaming the victim in my book.
The victim is that poor child, who’s mother was foolish enough to start a fight with someone while 5 months pregnant.
Felony murder rule. The pregnant woman started a fight with another woman (over the baby daddy). The other woman shot her in self-defense and the baby died.
Exactly read 6... this isn’t blaming the victim.. the victim is the unborn child who sadly had a mother who thought at 5 months pregnant attacking another woman was a good idea.

The victim was the unborn child. The system isn’t blaming the victim.
In fairness, if one goes against forum custom and reads the article before posting, one will discover that the fight was over the baby’s father. If one is five months pregnant and someone is attempting to take your man, I can see having issues.
Society is messed up.
The victim is the poor child, whose mother opted for a baby daddy that appears to not have been firmly a one-woman man.
If the man wasn’t a whore, any attempt to “take” him could simply be ignored.
This is a trap They are teeing this up to a near certainty that the SC tosses the Alabama law and a once in generation opportunity chance to roll back at least partially R v W will be lost
