The front-runner to become Britains next prime minister is a portly white man with unkempt blond hair, an adoring base of supporters, disdain for Europe, a dodgy private life and a loose relationship with truth and principle. There are also differences between Boris Johnson and Donald Trump, but the similarities have been much noted in some European circles, with no small misgivings.

Enjoy!
I don’t trust Boris except maybe 2% more than I trusted May.
Really?
What are your reasons for saying that?
I don’t know enough to say either way, but I have high hopes.
If he pisses off the Liberals, he can’t be that bad.
Basically the times considers them both to be scum of the erf miscreants who don’t behave as the ‘swells’ deem appropriate? LOL! Sometimes coniptions are fun to watch.
That can be misleading. It is the major way that the GOPe, for example, slipped more Establishment stooges in what were supposed to be “tea party” candidates not too many years ago.
Another Patton?MAYBE!
Another TRUMP.45!..........Nah!

I thought I had read somewhere where Boris refused to meet with Trump when Trump travelled to England? Can anyone verify that and if so, why?
IIRC it was Trump that refused to meet with Johnson.
Johnson is apparently not a fan of DJT:

Are you a Brit? If Dothan by all means make known your concerns about Boris as I would sincerely like to learn about the man.
If you are not a Brit then cheer up! Britain can only go in one direction after its last disaster of a PM.
I’m not sure he’s 100% on the Brexit train
The front-runner to become Britains next prime minister is a portly white man
The Boris train is the only train Boris is 100% on.
Google. His support for Brexit was weak down to the point that he finally backed it. Then he has climbed on May’s non-Brexit Brexit all too readily. And, he was their foreign minister while they were doing dastardly stuff to try to bring down Trump.
Other than that?
Really?
What are your reasons for saying that?

You beat me to it!
Two major sins mentioned right awayhes portly and hes a white man. Obviously unqualified to be PM.

BINGO! Unfortunately that’s exactly the kind of rubbish that readers of that rag so enjoy.
“I thought I had read somewhere where Boris refused to meet with Trump when Trump travelled to England? Can anyone verify that and if so, why?”
Because it would have hurt his chances of becoming PM. Trump knew this too, so it never happened. The object is to get Boris in office without the UK press calling him a lapdog of Trump. When in office, Boris will be a good friend of the U.S. and will be an ally of Trump.
