William Barr's recusal from Epstein case should give Democrats the willies
American Thinker ^ | 07/09/2019 | Monica Showalter

Attorney General William Barr recused himself Monday from the Jeffrey Epstein child molesting case, based on a vague reference to having worked for a law firm many years ago that had connections to Epstein. According to Washington Examiner:

Attorney General William Barr revealed Monday he recused himself from the Justice Department’s prosecution of alleged child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who was arrested over the weekend and formally charged that morning.

Hmmm. On the surface, it sounds like the exit from the case of another Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, who recused himself from the investigation into Russian collusion allegations against President Trump, based on his own light contacts with the Russians as Senator. Now Democrats can have a field day against Trump with the investigation entirely in their hands, right?

Don't think so. On the surface it may appear to be bad news for President Trump - another rat fleeing a sinking ship? - and the left may be secretly cheering.  But if they are, they don't know Barr very well.

Barr is a canny player in ways that Sessions was not, and more likely, he's clearing the floor to keep any hint of politics out of this bona fide child-molestation case.

What's more likely is that Democrats - lots of Democrats - are involved in this and he's getting out of the way so they can go down without yellings from the left about a politicized prosecution. One can only surmise that maybe he's seen the details about whose name is going to come up, how damning the evidence is, and knows they're going to go easily based on objective facts alone. How much smarter that this not be about politics so the legal process can take its course. No Barr, no politics.

“No Barr, no politics.”

Fantasy Land.

With Democrats, EVERYTHING is political.

God I freakin’ hope so. Dems are about to go apesh*t bazonkazoids. The news media is going to push this so hard, just the baseless 24/7 accusations are enough to cause trouble...all people will hear is trump is a pedophile

How ridiculous a premise is this? How about Barr is actually conflicted and he is smart enough to not reveal his client? I doubt Barr is worried about politics. This investigation will be politicized since it is Dems being prosecuted. And this is nothing like Sessions recusal. Dumb article.

I’ll believe it when I see prominent people going to prison.

Oh no, not again. How many times will Lucy (AG, whoever it is) pulls the football before Charlie Brown (President Trump) gives up?

Not saying that President Trump is Charlie Brown, but the play is the same.

Hmmm.. The analysis makes pretty good sense. And yes, Barr is adept at maneuvering the swamp. But I wonder — will Epstein give up others in exchange for a reduced sentence? That’s the only way he’s not going to die in prison.

kinda sorta makes sense really. Barr would be useless as an AG in all his other tasks(whatever those may be) if he got involved in this case.

He’d be too busy testifying in front of screeching congressional dems hearings every week. They’re already trying to go after him on the census thing.

Hopefully his recusing is a good thing this time.

Yes, all Republicans no doubt.

The Trump-was-a-friend-of-Epstein narrative is being pushed now. The more their names are mentioned together the more the implication or suspicion that Trump was somehow involved.

The only time Clinton is mentioned is when his forceful denials are related. You’ll see little mention of Billy from now on.

It’s all on how you spin the news cycle. Orwellian.

Barr had a legit reason to recuse

Plus read his explanation. He like Trump are not involved at all in any of this. This just helps keep the media from trying to tie them to this case

Still with the hero worship of Sessions? Was this part of “the plan”? Is Sessions still working his plan? A guy still pumping his pom poms for Sleepy looks a little foolish. After lecturing us for a year and a half about how Sessions was going to save the republic, you expect the rest of us to be eating crow? Strange reality you’re living in.

Read Barr’s explanation. He joined a lawy firm that had at one time done work for Epstein. It’s legit

Boy, does that have the ring of truth.

Thanks for doing my thinking for me (seriously, not snark).

A prosecutor who refuses himself does so for one reason only: TO AVOID UNDERMINING THE PROSECUTION OF THE CASE. It’s done to protect the prosecution, not the defendant(s).
