British ambassador who called Trump 'inept' has Theresa May's 'full support'

Outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday issued a statement of support to Britain’s ambassador to the U.S. after President Trump cut off contact with him amid the leak of diplomatic cables.

May backed ambassador Kim Darroch amid the controversy over leaked diplomatic cables in which he disparaged Trump, including calling him “inept.”

Downing Street said Darroch “continues to have the prime minister's full support,” adding that “We have made clear to the U.S. how unfortunate this leak is” and that “the selective extracts leaked do not reflect the closeness of, and the esteem in which we hold, the relationship.”

They are stupid and crazy.

Next time the UK needs something from us, President Trump can and should just ignore them.

The US should ask for this guy to be recalled. It’s not just that it got leaked (although that shows incredible stupidity on his part) but that he said it in the first place.

Trump should revoke his diplomatic status. Sooner or later he’s going to have to start playing hardball or he’s toast IMO!

May is just letting her successor do the recall. She can show her support knowing the team will change shortly, thereby negating any impact on relations.

Doubling down on regretting the leak but not the content. Pretty short sighted and stupid to support your idiot ambassador at the expense of further insulting the POTUS.

Should have been ignored since 1775

The UK exported over $140 billion to the US last year.

If the UK wants to pi$$ off that market...

President Trump has no interest in political correctness.
May is now a historic Loser.

When Trump’s friend BoJo comes in the whole mess will be blown away.

Obviously, a diplomat who has no understanding of the word “diplomacy”.

May deserves a Trump Tweet.

“Loser Teresa May supporting a loser, they’ll both be gone soon”.

I think they elect a new Prime Minister within two weeks.
This is just Theresa May being unproductively stubborn.
That’s the same trait that caused her to totally screw up the Brexit plans and goals.
Sir Kim will likely just be ignored and worked around for the next few weeks.

When the Host Country (USA) makes a public announcement that the president wants nothing to do with you, an ambassador retains that position in name only.
