Castro sushi restaurant with controversial rainbow rock has suddenly closed
SF Gate ^ | 7/11/19

Izakaya Sushi Ran, the Castro's gastropub answer to the popular Sausalito restaurant Sushi Ran, has closed. Originally called Nomica when it opened in 2016, it changed names last fall and served izakaya-style small plates, mains, sushi rolls and cocktails.

A message on the restaurant's website says the following:

"Dear friends,

Ya'll, we made a mistake! While rocks r a common prt of anti-homeless architecture, this particular rock is NOT. It's a Japanese garden. Izakaya Sushi is a valued member of the commnity & is supportive of its homeless neighbors. We apologize & offer deep appreciation to the staff https://twitter.com/TheCoalitionSF/status/1141401379094724608 …

Bizarre beyond belief. Who knew there was such a thing as “anti-homeless” architecture?

Also, what “victim group” gets priority here? Gays, “homeless,” non-European origin city commission members....?

Dance of fools:

1. Put Zen garden in front of restaurant to show cultural appropriation appreciation;

2. Paint rock in garden rainbow to kick tradition in the face in order to celebrate perversity alternate sexuality.

3. Activists decide rock itself is a manifestation of anti-homelessness because it blocks a garden no one could sleep in anyway;

4. Restaurant closes, decamps the madhouse and runs for safer ground in Sausalito.

Of these, only activity 4 is the sign of sanity. San Francisco is doomed.

Just what’s posted here I feel like I’m reading a foreign language.

More proof that most liberals have mental problems, abuse drugs/alcohol and should stop writing any opinion stuff.

The Coalition on Homelessness originally identified the rock as anti-homeless architecture, designed to discourage homeless people from sleeping in front of the restaurant.

"When you wanna look inclusive but hate homeless people," the organization captioned a photo of the rock on Twitter.

Coalition on Homelessness.

Right.

They are so nuts now that when the next generation comes up it will be worse that Escape from New York in that everyone there is at each other's throats but nobody wants to leave.

"der Stein"

It appears that rocks have long had a male gender assigned to them. Not sure about transrocks...

Maybe the homeless were also toiletless and were using the Zen rock as a poop John.

The Coalition on Homeless is not crazy. It’s organized and run by richly-funded social service organizations. To protect their budgets they have to deploy a constant escalating barrage of shame, guilt and misplaced sympathy upon business owners and property owners in order to keep perpetuate San Francisco’s sanctuary-city policy for the mentally-ill addicts and gutter drunks who wear the label “homeless” in San Francisco.

(In many other parts of California, there are lots of people who fit the more ordinary definition of homeless - people living out of cars and tents because of sky-high rents. Their are issues associated with them, of course ... but NOTHING like what San Francisco puts up with.)

I vote for the boulder.

Well, if we can vote our preference, I vote we force all these addicts/degenerate druggies to the mojave into tents in cages. Let them languish there for a few years until they get their minds right.

My wife's uncle went through that with Sheriff Joe and cleaned him right up.

Many older apartment bldgs. in NYC had these spiked strips atop the cast iron fencing around the entranceways to discourage “hoodlums”, “vagrants” and “riff raff” from loitering around. I’m surprised the ACLU never sued to have them removed.

I would never eat at any restaurant in San Francisco’s Castro district—for obvious reasons.

Don't order the rainbow trout anywhere in SF...
