Trump Clears Democrat Smokescreen with Removal of Acosta
American Thinker.com ^ | July 13, 2019 | Jonathan F. Keiler

Why did Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta resign?

His supposed “offense” was declining to prosecute Jeffrey Epstein in return for the billionaire sex predator’s guilty plea in state court (and concomitant jail sentence) when he was U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. That is hardly an offense or even scandalous. It’s a professional decision that prosecutors across the country make every day. You can agree or disagree with it, but it is hardly grounds to lose your next job over.

So what is going on here?

The least likely possibility is that there really was something scandalous about Acosta’s decision. That he, or one of his subordinates, got something in return for declining to prosecute Epstein over a decade ago, and so Trump got rid of a bad apple. However, there is absolutely no evidence of this (at least that has been made public) and Acosta’s and subordinates’ actions are perfectly explainable in the absence of illegal inducements. Even if you accept the worst accusations against Acosta coming from Democrats and the mainstream media, that he and his people knuckled under to Epstein’s team of high-powered legal talent, so what? This happens, which is why there aren’t more multimillionaires and billionaires in jail. High-powered legal talent makes a difference. Exhibit A -- a guy named Orenthal James Simpson. That Epstein ended up in prison at all a decade ago is pretty good.

Did Trump remove him or did he step down on his own?

LOL, that was hardly “his offense.”

Good riddance.

Acosta saw that he’d be amplified as a d’rat talking point, even though his explanation at the time held legitimacy.

The way I understand is that he stepped down on his own.

That’s what I understood, too. The headline is misleading.

Trump offered to stand by him if he decided to stay. Acosta said he didn’t want to be a distraction. RATs claim another scalp, justified or not.

his explanation at the time held legitimacy.

He said he was told "hands off" by the deep state, that Epstein was "intelligence".

He resigned to avoid being a distraction.

I was on the bubble til I watched his press conference and he convinced me that his decisions back then were
A) not his alone, but those of a team of prosecutors,

B) that the local DA was preparing to let Epstein basically walk, and they threatened federal action mainly to force him to seek a plea that would require jail time, registration as a sex offender, and restitution to victims. Acosta got all three.

C) that any decision to go to trial ran the risk the perp would get off (i.e OJ). This risk goes up in proportion to the defendants resources and ability to hire the best lawyers on the planet. Acosta’s team decided that the plea deal that accomplished the three goals above was a better choice than going to trial which was an unknown.

D) times were different then. Rape and sexual abuse were occurring but were covered up by means of secret payoffs and non-disclosure agreements. Victims were shamed and not as often believed, which meant their testimony at trial was a lot less persuasive, especially if they could be challenged with allegations of drug use, etc.

For those who think Acosta was a fair scalp I have a question: When will we see the closed records of sexual harassment payments made to cover-up allegations against Members of Congress?

If this is the standard for public officials now, I want to see it ALL.

There’s quite a bit more to the Florida story than has been reported.
Don’t count on today’s media to dig it up, tho...

The remarkable thing about this whole Epstein affair is that Our President Trump (I really feel great every time I write those wonderful words) is the cleanest of all the people who’re on record as having some social or professional contact with Epstein. PDJT is the MAN who banned the creep from Mar A Logo after a female employee reported the creep as trying to have sex with an underage girl. Not only that, but David Bose, a former attorney for Al Gore and one of the attorneys for currently complaining witnesses in the Epstein case, has verified the story. Sorry, anti-Trumpers, but you’re trying to climb a greased pole on this one.

....

They also claimed they were going to win in 2016

They also claimed they were going to prove Trump colluded with Russia

You get the point!

Their claims don’t mean sh*t!

If you watched Trump’s presser there is no debate, they said stepping down was Acosta’s idea, and Acosta said it was to remove distractions from the DOJ’s achievements.

Trump and Acosta were very clear in the presser.

I don’t waste time on any commentary like in the linked article, I go straight to the primary source. Don’t know why more people done’t do that. All Trump’s pressers are on the WH youtube channel.
