A wink and a nod from this ambassador to a high level striped pants operative in Foggy Bottom might well grease the way for Brennan to enlist British intelligence, knowing the boomerang effect of what he has generated will ultimately penetrate the FBI via the State Department. A conscious conspiracy? Perhaps on the part of one but not necessarily the other. Perhaps our ambassador is only returning a serve as any gentleman would or perhaps he is in on the plot. Perhaps he only certifies to London what he reads in the newspapers and hears over cocktails because he is conditioned to believe it anyway. His role on behalf of his government in London is to discern a coup attempt not to be duped and certainly not to facilitate it.
