A Texas-owned business will be honored on Monday at President Donald Trumps Made in America product showcase. Nokona has been chosen to represent Texas at the event.
President Trump invited companies from throughout the United States to be celebrated. The event will be held at the White House and is a tribute to American workers, Trump says.
Nokona is the last baseball factory in America. It is located in the small town of Nocona, which is two hours north of Dallas.
Employees stamp and stitch about 250 gloves a day.
Sometimes, I think in America people assume stuff spits out of a machine in China somewhere and it ends up on your table or youre playing on a ballfield with it, said Rob Storey, the executive vice president of Nokona Ball Gloves, which his family founded in 1934.
The community says "American-made" is Nokona's niche and appeal.
"We continue to put classic American workmanship into every glove, using techniques developed over the past 80+ years," the company's website states.
This company, and others making things in America, BADLY need to be protected.
Tariffs, Mr. President.
I bought a Nokona softball glove ten years ago for $150. It is a fine glove, and will be passed on to my son when he is old enough. He plays baseball, but the glove works well enough for that, too.
I got a pair of Nocona boots at their factory store there before they got bought up by Justin and moved to El Paso. Great boots that actually fit my wide, high-arch feet. They couldnt actually find the flaw in them and just decided they were a custom pair that didnt quite fit right. They fit me just fine and were cheap, to boot.
The factory is still open kinda. There’s a beer garden, and a factory outlet Nocona boot store there. The woman inside couldn’t be any nicer.
It’s worth a stop if you know how it was back in the day.
I just passed through in February.

They are trying. Support em if you ever get a chance.

I know that. I’m talking about the town and the old factory.
I’m guessing you haven’t been there lately, or you’d know what I was referring to.
My bad. I didn’t mean to send this to you but to the thread in general. I forgot to remove you name before posting. And no I haven’t been there in a few years.
We need very high across the board import tariffs now. Screw the GOP and their K Street handlers.
Justin boots are a pretty big deal in Justin, TX, north of Ft. Worth.
I had a Nokona three-fingered glove that carried me through Little League. I wore it out, finally, after many re-stringings and lots of saddlesoap (probably a mistake, but I loved that glove).
Nokona baseball gloves are a given in the area HS baseball teams.
