Wow. At least the victim didn’t get into trouble defending himself with a handgun. BTW, we were about 20 miles away from that area Saturday night on our way to Rhode Island. NJ State troopers were working I80 over pretty hard when we went through.
Not sure why anyone would think that any onlooker on MLK Drive would do anything other than film or participate in the beating.

—————————————————————— My brother lived a block away on JFK Boulevard and Duncan Ave, in The Hague Building. MLK was to the east, to the west they filmed several episodes of COPS. Originally a city group wanted to rename JFK Boulevard to MLK Boulevard.
Once I was driving thru the ‘hood on MLK Blvd. Stupidly stopped at a traffic light. A stray bullet punctured my tire.
Luckily I had a tow service programmed into my phone. Called, told ‘em where I was. They were there, had me hooked up & outta there within 90 seconds.
This, on full bellies, with the EBT system working.
Imagine “lights out” with no food.
If you find yourself in Jersey City for any reason, it’s time to examine your life choices and determine how things went so horribly wrong.

Before the internet was big, I had to make an appointment at an office 80 miles away. I asked someone who was familiar with the area, if it was a safe neighborhood. “Well, once you get to inside the compund, you will be safe, but it’s off MLK Jr Freeway, and there is a fried chicken place next door, if that tells you anything”. I arrived at 7:30am and was done by 9:30am.
