Trump, raise tariffs.

Now.

Stop messing around. A whole huge number of Americans are completely sick of building up China every time we shop.

I don't know if you see it, we are not in comparable socio-economic classes. But you promised to bring businesses back to America.

You have been saying that since the very beginning.

So WHY AREN'T YOU?

They’re simply playing for time.

From the outset they never intended to make good on their empty words.

They’re making Trump into a chump, taking us for fools.

When is he going to ACT..?

Bring on the second tranche of taxes on the rest of China’s exports to us and let their economy unravel as manufacturers exporting to us flee to avoid the tariffs.

"When is he going to ACT..?"

The very next story at the link makes the point that China's official growth rate has dropped to its lowest level in almost 30 years, and thousands of companies are leaving China - because of the tariffs that President Trump has already imposed (about half of the total volume of China's exports to the USA).

By screwing around now, China may be be giving the President just the excuse that he is looking for, to drop the big hammer - the biggest tariff package of them all, 25% on the remaining $325 billion of China's exports. They are playing with fire.

Trump clearly wants to say he gave them every opportunity but the Chinese kept blowing it. Time to further raise tariffs again on Chinese imports.

I think Trump should be far, far more aggressive than he has been thus far.

Granted, EVERYONE in America has been selling out to China for the entire last THIRTY YEARS.

But Trump ran on this issue. Trump WON on this issue.

A lot of people want us to be FAR more aggressive with China, than we have been thus far.

I am not talking about 25% tariffs.

Nope. Real tariffs. Ten times that amount.

Trump, it is time to rebuild America again.

It is long, long overdue in fact.

For real.

President Trump I have been supporting you since (before) you came down that escalator, and said you wanted to fix things. For real, I have.

But you are waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting,...

And waiting.

And waiting.

And waiting.

My wife and I had a foster teen, the most effective punishment to change his behavior was to take his phone from him. If we grounded his phone use for long periods of time we no longer had leverage. Instead we grounded his use for no more than 1 to 2 days at a time.

Its time to put the Mexican Squeeze on the Chicoms

Trump negotiator: You are delaying and prevaricating on your end of the agreement:

Chicoms:....more prevaricating

Trump Negotiator: So as a gesture of your sincerity here is a list of 26 people that we would like you to freeze their assets within 24 hours

Chicoms:...more prevaricating

Trump negotiator: Then we have a big list of 260 people we we will freeze their assets world wide...maybe your name is on it....do you feel lucky punk?

Chicom negotiator: OK its been so ordered.

A whole huge number of Americans are completely sick of building up China every time we shop.

So we’re going to be happier building up Vietnam?

...you promised to bring businesses back to America.

Better start weakening the dollar.

I am not saying that.

Although, Vietnam is a whole HUGE amount less of a threat to America. Infinitely less of any sort of threat.

For real.

I did not say move businesses to Vietnam.

I did not, and do not say that.

Although, that would still be infinitely better than continuing to build up China.

Infinitely so.

I did not say move businesses to Vietnam.

No, but we now have strong evidence that that’s what’s happening.

In fact, it was already happening and even Vietnam is getting too expensive. Next is Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar and who knows who else.

It just isn’t going to be the US.

If the point was to hurt China, fine. If the point was to change the overall trade imbalance, big fail.

Vietnam is not getting too expensive.

It is however, going nuts with growth. Big time.

I really believe they are in the sweet spot at the moment.

That may change, but it hasn’t yet. It is just starting to ramp up, now.

Long, long, long way to go before it gets too expensive.

Many years yet.

I’d be very careful! The upcoming election will depend, in great measure, having a vibrant economy. I am with you on the imposition of tariffs, but they need to be imposed carefully. The Chinks are not like Mexico. They would have to remake their economic plan completely if they were to go along with what they’ve agreed to, then reneged on. We have come to rely on “cheap $hit from China. We are not yet masters of our own economy.

If Trump doesn’t do something, I strongly believe the democrats will wrestle this issue from him, and frankly the GOP will be eliminated.

For real.

We are about one more presidency from this, as things stand right now.

Trump, no pressure.

:)

Chi-coms play the long game,
WAit, the orange haired guy will be gone soon enough, wether two or 7 years is buy a moment in time.
Raise import duties on every chi-com import.
NO imports unless they open their markets to everyone.
Try to purchase a Harley Davidson in China, $18,000 Electraglide costs $80,000 there.

I don’t know but I think that China is doing what they have always done and our government allows them to do it.

The Chicoms agreed to certain things during the last meeting with President Trump.Things like increasing the Purchases of U.S. farm products, etc.

A few weeks later President Trump praises the Chinese and allows the continued transfer of U.S. manufactured processors to China.

Within two weeks of that the Chicoms stated that they didn’t agree to anything during the previous meeting and things were up too negotiations.

It’s past time for the President to stop these Chinese games and strike them hard with some significant tariffs.

Here’s the deal.

The US has tariffs on China, other manufacturing countries do not. So it hurts US companies which source components from China vs. their foreign competitors.

BL: Setting tariffs on China initially also hits US manufacturing.

Trump has to go slow to give US companies time to source components from other countries or move factories out of China to other countries. Apple just moved iPhone manufacturing to India. It takes time but it’s working.

This is a long term strategy to protect friendly nations from Chinese hegemony. It’d be nice if the EU followed suit.

The USA needs uniform across the board tariffs ad to immediately withdraw from the WTO.
