My Warning to Republicans: Condemn Trump and End Up Like Kasich
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | July 16, 2019 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 07/16/2019 1:12:40 PM PDT by Kaslin

RUSH: If Republicans… If Donald Trump, if Republicans follow the advice of the Never Trumpers out there today — if they follow the advice of the Drive-By Media — apologizing for Trump, distancing themselves from Trump, throwing Trump overboard, condemning Trump… If they do any of that, they’re gonna all end up like John Kasich. They’re gonna all end up marginalized like Kasich or McCain or Mitt Romney. Republicans have long pretended that politeness could act as a cover for being afraid, and it still survives to this day.

The primary identity of the Never Trumpers is that they are “civil,” and they are polite, and that we must go about our day with grace, dignity, sophistication. This has been the hallmark of opposition to the left ever since I’ve been doing this program. I could tell you stories. When I first moved to New York in 1988, Morton Downey Jr. had a TV show, which was the modern incarnation of the old Joe Pyne show. It was an insult show. Downey was funny, blowing cigarette smoke in people’s faces and throwing ’em off the stage and all sorts of stuff.

I went to my first gathering of conservative elites at a cocktail party that was hosted at the home of Lewis Lehrman — prominent Republican donor, fundraiser, thinker — and I was dazzled. I mean, here I am just off the plane to New York, and I’ve been invited to this thing, and I’ve got a wholly different attitude about all this then than I have today. I was really excited to be there. These were some of the intellectual giants that I had read and learned from, and I was looking forward to meeting them. I wanted to thank some of them even for helping me to grow and learn.

They wouldn’t even have known it because nobody knew who I was. I fully expected a lot of these people to just be repulsed by what was happening. Morton Downey Jr. was thought to be a conservative, and here he was on this syndicated show, and these people all loved it. They all loved it. They all said, “You’re gonna try to do what Morton Downey Jr. does?” I said, “No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I’m not going down that road. Anybody can do that. Oh, no, no. This is gonna be serious. This is gonna be done with dignity, respect, and so forth. I mean, it’s gonna have humor and so forth, but it’s…”

I was stunned. All these people, they couldn’t wait to go on the show. The same people today telling us that (impression) “civility, dignity, and sophistication are the order of the day.” My point is that from 1988 to now, the primary weapons that sophisticated, conservative, and Republican elites have been using to oppose the left are good manners, civility, sophistication, decency. The theory behind this is that eventually the American people will awaken one day and realize who the nice people really are, who the good guys really are, who the reasonable people really are.

The problem is that it’s no way to fight a revolution, no way to oppose a revolution. We’re in the midst of another revolution. We’re in the midst of the American left — and it’s been going on for 50 years — attempting to retake this country, take it over, and turn it into something that it was not founded to be. And I’m sorry. Being polite with good manners, sophistication and all is not the way to resist it! It is a way to make yourself look smart. It is a way to make yourself look reasonable and intelligent and learned and thoughtful and polite and all of those other things.

But there has not been a single moment of meaningful confrontation or resistance to this revolution that’s come from this gang and this politeness and good manners. I’m not opposed to any of this, by the way. Don’t misunderstand. I’m saying it’s got its place. It all does. But what it has actually served as is a cover for being afraid to take this stuff on, and you know what the fear really is? The fear is not of the Democrats. The fear has always been (and remains today) the media.

Even now, there are people who, privately in their hearts and minds, really like what Trump is doing. But they’re mad at him because the media is dumping on him and they’re tired of the media dumping on him and they wish he would stop making himself a target. And yet privately they support what he’s talking about. We’re still imprisoned, in part, by people who wish the media would change, believing that if the media would just once give us a fair shot, that our fortunes would change.

Well, the media isn’t gonna change, because “the media” is not the media. The media is the left. It is the intellectual leadership of the left today. It is the army — it is the munitions and weapons — of the left, and it isn’t going to change. But Republicans, you know it as well as I do over the course of years, abhor conflict. They run away from the environmentalist wackos, abortion, building the wall, woke Millennials. They’re even afraid of Millennials on college campuses, some of them are! Antifa. Black Lives Matter.

Trump is none of that.

What’s funny is guys like Kasich, or McCain think that Democrats will like them.

They were calling McCain “Hitler” too, in 2008.

Kasich really lost his way. I remember when he was a true blue conservative Congressman, well mostly conservative.

Seduced by the media, like McLame, Senator R-Media. When he had the temerity to run against Obama, they sliced and diced him and after insuring he lost, they went back to saying nice things about him. They like go along and get along conservatives who lose.

Exclusive poll: AOC defining Dems in swing states (Dems getting killed by The Squad))
axios.xom / FR Posted on 7/16/2019, 3:45:47 PM by Liz

Top Democrats are circulating a poll showing that one of the House’s most progressive members — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (a member of The Squad)— has become a definitional face for the party with a crucial group of swing voters.

Why it matters: These Democrats are sounding the alarm that swing voters know and dislike socialism, warning it could cost them the House and the presidency. The poll is making the rounds of some of the most influential Democrats in America. “If all voters hear about is AOC, it could put the [House] majority at risk,” said a top Democrat who is involved in 2020 congressional races. “[S]he’s getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races.”

The poll — taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi’s latest run-in with AOC and the three other liberal House freshmen known as “The Squad” — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.

These are the “white, non-college voters” who embraced Donald Trump in 2016 but are needed by Democrats in swing House districts. The group that took the poll shared the results with Axios on the condition that it not be named, because the group has to work with all parts of the party.

The findings:
<><> Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view.
<><> Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.
<><> Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%.
<><> Capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.

“Socialism is toxic to these voters,” said the top Democrat. Between the lines: Dems are performing better with these voters than in 2016 (although still not as well as in 2018). So party leaders will continue to try to define themselves around more mainstream members.

The other side: Three members of The Squad — Omar, Rep.
Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Rep. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts — defended their approach while appearing in Philadelphia yesterday on a panel at the annual Netroots Nation conference, AP’s Juana Summers reports: “We never need to ask for permission or wait for an invitation to lead,” Omar said, adding later that there’s a “constant struggle oftentimes with people who have power about sharing that power.”

...”The media is not the media. It is the left.”...

How very, very true. Unfortunately, you have to fight fire with fire and, so far, very few are willing to risk anything to do what has to be done to oppose the communists among us. Those willing to be violent, who are willing to tell lies and speak violence while claiming they are victims, will not give up their agenda to take over American without strong signs of opposition. A serious effort to save this country needs to begin immediately. Do not take the bait, and begin to claim the right to state what is in your heart. Our President simply stated what many people feel when their country is hated by those it has welcomed and elevated to high and powerful positions. That is like a private person pulling out the stops to be hospitable to a person who has requested that hospitality and then, having that guest go out and brutally criticize everything about the home and it’s occupants. Would that home owner not say to the guest that they need to leave to find what they want elsewhere. Is this too much rational thinking to be understood?

PUBBIES PLAYING HARD BALL IN FLOOR FIGHT -——KUDOS.

Georgia Republican Rep. Doug Collins rose to challenge Pelosi’s anti-Trump remarks that had turned personal, and demanded that her words be “taken down.”

The extraordinary rebuke, the first of its kind by a member of Congress and a speaker of the House in decades,
could result in Pelosi being barred from speaking on the floor for the remainder of the day.

Did you listen to the full Rush broadcast today?

I'm trying to find a reference he made to a liberal meeting where a speaker was advocating for racial and identity politics.

If you know what I'm talking about can you please post the Rush link.

Thank you.

Rush had an idiot calling in today, claiming we could do better than Trump in 2020 if we would just nominate a “normal” Republican, as the Democrats have already gotten themselves tagged as the crazy party. He could NOT suggest an alternative candidate. Worse, he didn’t seem to understand that if Trump chose not to run for re-election, that their tactics worked.

He claimed we don’t owe Trump a re-election even though he was the only one who could have taken this onslaught. We most certainly DO owe Trump a re-election. Heaven knows “normal” Republicans don’t have his back. If we abandon Trump now, we would never be able to effectively expose the media and Democrats for what they are ever again.

We shouldn’t punish a man for keeping his promises, especially when they are mostly GREAT promises.
