Chris Pratt is facing criticism over a T-shirt he was pictured wearing featuring a controversial symbol. The Marvel starÂs top shows the American flag with a coiled snake over the top and a message underneath which reads ÂDonÂt Tread On Me. The writing and snake combo on its own is depicted on the Gadsden flag; a symbol created by Christopher Gadsden, a Charleston-born brigadier general in the Continental Army. It came to prominence during the Revolutionary War of the US by colonists who wanted independence from Great Britain. It has therefore become a symbol of more conservative and far right individuals and, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the US, it also is Âsometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages in some contexts. Gadsden Flag came to prominence during the Revolutionary WarView photos Gadsden Flag came to prominence during the Revolutionary War ItÂs why some people are critical of Pratt wearing a T-shirt featuring the Gadsden flag iconography. Hitler loved dogs. By their logic everyone should get rid of their pets.
Racism and white supremacy is apparently defined today as “Anything We Don’t Like.”

And equally tired of Twitter outrage culture.
"Hey! Let's find six pissed-off tweets about something and write a story!"
With beliefs such as those, he might as well just get himself a swastika shirt and be done with it.

They are sick of it too.
So ... Colonials used it in their fight for freedom from a tyrannical government and it’s a good flag. The US men’s soccer team used it but it didn’t get called a soccer flag. Metallica used it but it didn’t get called a heavy metal symbol. Libertarian groups used it but it didn’t get called the flag of the Libertarian party. But some fringe hate groups use it and all of a sudden it’s evil and loses all of it’s previous meaning? Really?
