One small holograph for man. One giant holograph for the Washington Monument.
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with a life-size projection of the Saturn V rocket on the Washington Monument on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The Saturn V rocket is now iconic for carrying the Apollo 11 crew to the moon in 1969. The projection-mapping-artwork will occupy 363 of the Monument's 555 vertical feet.
On Friday and Saturday, the semi-centennial show will switch to a 17-minute film that recreates the Apollo 11 launch.

Cool. Thanks for posting. Not sure if anyone has posted this before, but here's an interesting close up video showing the engines of Apollo 11 igniting, and how water was poured into the launch pad just after lift-off - to prevent damage to the pad.

I am surprised the Apollo 11 mission has not been condemned by the Democrats, the media, and the "Squad" as being
SEXIST and RACIST! Three white men? How horrible.

Imagine it’s 1969 and America just landed on the moon. Would some football player kneel during the National Anthem because the astronauts planted the American flag on the moon?

Proud to say my father had a hand in building and testing the LEM...
One if the German scientist’s took a liking to my father given our German roots... made him one more of his assistant’s while working at Grumman aerospace.
We eventually relocated from Long Island to White Sands New Mexico...
Still remember watching the landing on an old Black and White TV when I was 7... didn’t really understand yet why my father was so proud that day... learned that over time.
What an amazing accomplishment.

That’s awesome. During Obama’s reign of terror all he did was push America apart, try to teach us to hate America and hate each other. Basically he was being big brother right out of 1984 except his two minutes hate was 24/7 and the media including all the networks carried his water and try to make us hate America 24/7 also. President Trump on the other hand not that we needed permission has given us permission to be proud to be American again. Not in a haughty arrogant way but in a way that actually appreciates what we have and does not take it for granted.

They don't look like they're enjoying themselves.

Me too.
Even as a kid, I knew it was extraordinary... and that WE were the ONLY PEOPLE who could do it.
Awesome.

What an amazing accomplishment. As an engineering accomplishment, I'd rank it tied with the Manhattan Project for the greatest achievement in the 20th century. And there were many commercial offshoots of the space program, chief among them a revolution in computers and data processing.

Last night my son came over for a visit.
Was there about ten minutes when his watch alarm went off.
He said we have to go outside, in 6 minutes the I.S.S. was going to fly over Cape Canaveral as a fly by tribute.
For 6 minutes you could see it swiftly crossing the sky from south west to North east,
Way cool.
Seems they shifted their course to do such.
