This isn't about the tweets. For the past couple of days, there has been a surge of support and popularity for Trump because of the tweets. the tweets forced Pelosi to defend the gang of four right at a time she was trying to distance herself from them.

The problem is that in rejecting what his followers were chanting, Trump is seemingly apologizing for the whole thing now. IMO, he should not have expressed any regrets at all.

Trump just inoculated himself from the inevitable charges of racism that will be hurled at him during the general election in 2020, and he stuck 4 unpopular radical leftist Democrats with glue to the rest of the Democrats. And he managed to bring up Rep. Omar Ilhan's marriage fraud, perjury, and tax fraud. It will be fun to watch her explain that in her faith it is OK to marry her brother, or something like that.

And then the "moderate" Democrats can explain to their voters why they think it is OK to marry your brother to get some kind of college tuition discount.

Trump is not on defense at all, watch and learn.
