The European Union formally condemned the demolition of illegal Arab apartment buildings near Israels security barrier separating Jerusalem from Palestinian Authority-controlled areas, and demanded Israel halt its enforcement of demolition orders.
In a statement issued Monday afternoon, the European Unions foreign affairs department said the demolitions undermine the viability of the two-state solution.
Israeli authorities have proceeded with the demolition of 10 Palestinian buildings, containing some 70 apartments, in Wadi al Hummus, part of Sur Baher neighbourhood in occupied East Jerusalem. The majority of the buildings are located in Area A and B of the West Bank where, according to the Oslo Accords, all civil issues are under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian Authority, the EU said.
Israels settlement policy, including actions taken in that context, such as forced transfers, evictions, demolitions and confiscations of homes, is illegal under international law. In line with the EUs long-standing position, we expect the Israeli authorities to immediately halt the ongoing demolitions.
The continuation of this policy undermines the viability of the two-state solution and the prospect for a lasting peace and seriously jeopardizes the possibility of Jerusalem serving as the future capital of both States.

I hope that Israel steps up the demolitions.
Ruh Roh! When the ‘yewwwwwww’ barks, not many pay attention. Sit down and shut up and enjoy your new mooselimb land.
If you hold your daughters and wives down while they’re raped, maybe they’ll rape you last.
What is in total US media blackout is the fact that Israel is surgically taking out hezballah (or whatever they're called) and Iran's military assets in that region. A Russian-made Syrian SAM landed in Cyprus causing a ruckus. Look at the map. Talk about a swing and a miss!
How would we respond to this title:
“European Union demands U.S. halt demolition of illegal homes.”
Yeah. “Bite me” comes to mind. :D
If they are “illegal” then aren’t the builder’s at fault?
Why were they even allowed to be built in the first place?
Demand in one hand...
Serious people in Israel realize that the establishment of an adjacent, independent, militarized Palestinian state would be the beginning of the end of Israel. Either the globalists in the EU and US are oblivious to the Gaza debacle or they ultimately want to see the dissolution of strong, distinct nation states such as Israel. The globalists scream “No borders !” for a reason.
Give everyone who wants to go a plane ticket to the EU and help them get all the free benefits the EU so graciously bestows on all refugees who get there. Dont demolish the good houses! Give them to faithful Jews. Problem solved!
What part of “illegal” do the talking heads of the EU not understand? And is Israel even part of the EU, so why should they be subject to the constrictions laid upon them by the empty suits of the EU?
There does not appear to be a basis for enforceable action against Israel, beyond what the EU is already doing, in their “Boycott, Disinvest, and Sanction” policy already in force.
Myopia is a crushing disorder at times. Lost in details, the big picture is badly blurred.
Ignore the evil EU scum.
Sorta like the “world court” making a ruling. WGAF? Not me.
Or what?
If Israel doesn't halt demolition will they stand idly by while Jewish businesses, synagogues and cemeteries are vandalized by neo-nazis and Islamists?
Will law enforcement agencies in the EU refrain from investigating mob attacks on Jewish citizens?
I mean exactly what are the EU threatening to do?
Amazing how so many can’t grasp the definition of illegal.
E.U.?
Come on England.
Come on Italy.
Come on France.
Ya want to be force fed by the damn Germans?
Way past time to leave the stinky E.U.
Relocate all Arabs currently living in the West Bank to Gaza.
There is no 2 state solution. The Jordanians will never let the Palestinians settle there.
I have a few friends among them who do good work. I wouldn’t wish Ghaza on anyone except Egypt. They claimed it was theirs long enough.
