U.S. Life Expectancy Falls Further
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Nov. 29, 2018 | Betsy McKay

Life expectancy for Americans fell again last year, despite growing recognition of the problems driving the decline and federal and local funds invested in stemming them.

Data the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released on Thursday show life expectancy fell by one-tenth of a year, to 78.6 years, pushed down by the sharpest annual increase in suicides in nearly a decade and a continued rise in deaths from powerful opioid drugs like fentanyl. Influenza, pneumonia and diabetes also factored into last year’s increase.

Economists and public-health experts consider life expectancy to be an important measure of a nation’s prosperity. The 2017 data paint a dark picture of health and well-being in the U.S., reflecting the effects of addiction and despair, particularly among young and middle-aged adults, as well as diseases plaguing an aging population and people with lower access to health care.

Have we factored in the tens of millions who never saw the light of day?

Is the rise of suicide blamed on Trump?

Did they factor in opioid deaths?

Did they include (more) illegals?

deaths by illegals too factor into this- also with growing population, there are more accidents, both pedestrian and vehicle, that cause deaths-

There are many many factors to consider when looking at life expectancy- such as more people = more pollution = worse health in certain areas- also, illegals bringing in diseases we had eradicated here in the US- more people = shorter response time of emergency squads due to heavy traffic- more people = worse living conditions for people packed together in public housing- more people on public assistance who don’t deserve to be on it- they get worse diets because of their ‘low income’-

on and on and on it goes- lots of things to factor in

[[A lot of GenXers especially, have been dropping from heart disease in their forties and fifties the past few years.]]

Bec ause people no longer get out and do good physical work during the day- many people sit all day long- eat terrible, don’t supersize, and end up with high blood pressure, diabetes etc-

The French people used to eat bad, smoke like fiends, but lived a long time because they had their large meals at noon, went back to work in fields, woods etc, and worked hard, and ‘worked off’ the calories and fats etc- their dinners were light, so that they didn’t lay their all night with food in their guts- not ‘working off’ the food as they sleep obviously-

Exercise is where it’s at in regards to good health- people just don’t do that anymore- not really- not like we used to have to do just to get by-

Does this have anything to do with the change in demographics? I believe the life expectancy for Blacks is just over 65. What about Hispanics?

The next generation after them is getting diabetes during their teens. Very sick at 30. It is likely they will die before their parents. So sad.
Fill a bunch of gender confused 6 year old with school prescribed hormones and they will start developing sex hormone related cancers quickly.

I’m sure the Obamacare advocates are popping champagne corks over this. An integral part of the plan is to get old people out of the system.

Also, I am wondering if this controls for the immigrant populations arriving with health problems that went untreated in their native countries, only to arrive in the U.S. with serious issues.
