Any bill passed to supposedly control Federal spending in the future is a waste of paper, time, and effort, because future politicians will refuse to vote against their own self-interests (re-election and/or lobbying income).
Federal spending will only be controlled when either the money is monetized into worthlessness, or the Federal government, and the American nation in general, collapses.

We tried automatic spending cuts for the past five or six years. Congress just repealed it. You expect them to enact even more stringent and larger automatic cuts?

We’ve had multiple “plans” for decades. Democrats and Republicans agree that high deficits and debt are bad, and have agreed on that for decades. It’s about the ONLY thing they agree on.

Get rid of baseline budgeting. It has AUTOMATIC increases built in BY LAW that increase spending by as much as 7 to 8% a year even before new spending is appropriated. This is how spending is increased without even increasing the budget.

Maybe they ought to try the same approach to spending that President Trump enforced with regard to regulation: for every new dollar spent, you have to cut two dollars. The worst outcome is ZGG — zero government growth.

Why not just have the president say something like he did in 2018 “I will never sign another bill like this again.” A promise like that would have to work wouldn’t it?
As a Millennial it bothers me to see our government recklessly overspending OUR money. I know my generation will be on the hook for this public debt for the rest of our natural lives but even the Boomers may not escape the consequences. When a country’s deficit approaches its total GDP that country is on the road to ruin.
Mr. President, if you’re reading this, please veto any budget that does not take in more revenue than it spends. That is the only way the uniparty in Congress will ever listen.
