“You knew Coach Valvano?”
Other than being in school when he coached and sharing an occasional high-five or hello when we crossed paths, not really. I did see many of his speeches though and heard much of his humor from those.
I was up the road in Louisburg college. Coach V was very inspirational. He was a legend to many a youth, we directed summer camp and coach came for an afternoon. Those kids were awed. I don’t know about nowadays but back then carolina basketball was king.
