Dennis Kucinich proposed a department of peace years ago. This is hardly a new idea on the lunatic fringe left.
Ugh! Give peace a chance, a brave new world thought for a teenager. Diplomacy over war machines, sure, sure. What happens when no one pays their taxes? Diplomacy? Department of Peace = Paying tribute and bend over here it comes again.
A couple of decades ago they sold peacenik bumper stickers on campuses:
Abolish the Defense Dept budget --Let them have the bake sales to raise money.

Indiana Senator Vance Hartke proposed this in 1970 and planned to model it after the Peace Corp. The idea went no where and Hartke, a far left liberal was defeated by RINO Dick Lugar in the 1976 Senate Election.
